Strange because none of my Zemlin hoods (Z 400TC, 600TC, 300mm GM, RF 100-300) are loose/rattle. I did have one defective ring for my 100-300 that cause the hood to have a little play - but the replacement ring correct it.

I've got one for my 400.. it's OK, it's 3D printed and makes a lot of noise putting on, and is finicky when mounting it. Would prefer a smaller proper Canon hood, but these prices are a bit ridiculous.
Glad I got my R3 / R1 and 100-300 2.8 at the previous pricing though.
That R3 price increase is pretty silly IMO. I think perhaps they just don't want people buying them any more.

I've noticed that a lot of Canon gear is currently discounted in Canada. I believe Canon Canada still imports inventory directly from Japan, so no tariffs.
Canon announced increased prices in Canada back on April 25th it was a currency adjustment.
The discounted prices we are seeing now is essentially the price it was before the increases.
Canon Canada is a subsidiary of Canon USA. As to if the gear is direct to Canada from Japan or through the US I do not know.

Mine isn't loose and doesn't rattle, it's actually very solid once mounted. It's the mounting to the ring that's finicky and getting it lined up properly. Perhaps not an issue if one leaves it mounted, but I fit my bodies/lenses into a single backpack for sports work and move field to field, so I'm always taking it on / off.

Canon has a refurbished sale going on today. Looks like some of the pricing is closer to where it was a few days ago, not 100% sure though.
Just saw that. A 1Dx3 for only $2599. That's a deal
Jim
A lot of the refurbs are eligible for the Canon Upgrade, which takes off another 10%. The RP would be $527 shipped. I'm thinking about getting one to use with my 28 for a small, lightweight, street set up

$3999 for the R3 was a perfect price, fit well in the lineup too, $5400? Got me looking at the Nikon z6iii as there’s not many 6k hybrid cameras. And if I’m spending that kind of money I’d rather go C80 or save for a used R1.
Mpb already upped the used R3s by damn near a thousand too. Really sucks, R3 is so underrated

Like new R3’s could be had for $2500 for a long time. Here’s one on the B&S for a little more:
This afternoon, a Canon LP-E19 battery pack went down in price at B&H from $250 each to $169. Eight minutes later, it went to $200 (I have the screenshots, and I'm not crazy). Many places on-line, still have them at $250 each.
As I write, the Canon Canon LC-E19 Battery Charger at B&H is $400, not the $620 that it was yesterday.
The Canon ET-120W II Lens Hood for an EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II lens is now $600 at B&H, not the $850 it was yesterday.
My feeling now is that retailers will be adjusting (or revising) their Canon prices for a few days anyway.
A few minutes later, the Canon LP-E19 Battery Pack (2700mAh) at B&H went back to $169.
Same part numbers as previous searches: BH #CALPE19 • MFR #1169C002
Canon had a price increase during Covid too but then followed in the months after with decent sales on new and tremendous bargains on refurbished. I wouldn't get caught up in the increases, just be patient and deals will be around.
Some good refurbished sales ongoing at the Canon store. https://www.cpricewatch.com/
Some of the cameras are eligible for the Canon Upgrade program.

When I looked at selling cameras, years ago, the current $200 p&s cost $180 wholesale, according to the Canon rep that basically tried to talk me out of getting into selling cameras. Had to sell cards and bags and stuff to make a go of it. Pretty slim margins, one more reason not many brick and mortar stores around anymore.

Apologies if this sounds dumb, I have not fully followed the news, AFAIK the tariffs were now 10% and most of them are on hold? Any reason why the price increases are so dramatic? I see some far greater than 10%
The tariff rate will be 24% if a deal cannot be reached by July 9 - which Japan has confirmed is highly unlikely. However tariffs have already started to hit items produced in Japan, so it's not just Canon increasing prices.
