Man, I'm so glad I talked someone out of the X-E5 and into an X-T4. X-T4 isn't perfect, but man that would be annoying...also why I didn't get the X-E5 and got an X-Pro 3.

Patrick made a fawning post on FR today about the X-E5 and the first comment was from someone that had theirs hit the concrete thanks to a failed lug. Had to laugh at the timing.

I should think we'd be reading a lot more comments here on FM if failing lugs on the X-E5 were a pervasive problem. I think that's the only one I've read about.

Those bad lugs continue to plague this model.

Not really. The OP indicated that the camera was from a launch pre-order. Fuji acknowledged that the lugs were a potential issue with the early production cameras with less than 0.1% of the cameras being affected. It's unfortunate that the poster was impacted by the defect, but I've not heard of the problem reoccurring with later production models.

Oh, but that is not nearly as exciting as imagining that Fujifilm is incompetent or screwing buyers! ;-)

Why has Fuji not yet fixed the focus magnification issue? Unlike older models, the X-E5 in manual focus mode zooms in when the focus ring is turned, but doesn't zoom out when the shutter is half pressed. That is utterly annoying since it requires another user input to reset the EVF to normal. And I can't see any good reason for that behavior! Not one! Thought that it happened by mistake and Fuji would fix it with a firmware update. Currently using AF-S with AF+MF cause the zoom in and reset works in that mode.

Am I the only one who doesn't use the lugs and uses the peak design plate on the bottom instead?

Keep banging that drum. I suspect that the camera is from an early production batch that had the issue given that he says he's had the camera since October 2025. It's unfortunate that Reggie got one of the bad ones.

I'm well aware he likely has a bad batch unit. So do a bunch of other people in the wild.

The fact that Fuji didn't do what Nikon did with the Z8 batch that had this issue, and issue a general recall where they'd inspect and repair for free BEFORE failure, is pathetic.

I suspect that there was no recall because the number of affected cameras is low. They issued a notice in November 2025 acknowledging the problem and offering free inspection and repair if needed. Any X-E5 owner can send the camera to a Fujifilm Customer Service center for inspection. I haven't sent mine for inspection since it's from a later production batch. I'm not familiar with the Nikon Z8 issue and how extensive it was, or if it's analogous to the X-E5 problem.

If a lug falls off my X-E5, I'll be sure to post about here. That would probably be double schadenfreude for you.

Ah, Nikon perfect reaction, hopefully they learnt from the much more significant D600 debacle, and their shameful reaction to it

What was Nikons shameful reaction to the D600 issue? From what I recall they issued a recall and offered to do like a full shutter swap for years after the camera was discontinued.
