A lot of people will very happy if it costs less than the M11. I put up a poll on Discord and 80% thought it would cost the same or more (63% more, 17% the same).
7950 euro = 9303 $ at today's rate if this is the price +/- small change the M11 EV1 = M11 in price, the 17% have the correct answer, apparently. Add sales tax for most the actual price is then north of 10K$. So will those of us who bought M11Ps + Visoflex 2 find the new offering compelling, aside from not having the top box will it be better enough to spring for the new model. Not prejudging as so far it is all rumors. It may need to bring in a new group of buyers, who have 10K to spare as it may not prompt recent M11/M11Ps to go for it. I may or may not buy one- I'll see what is and the price after the release date.

Isn’t the more important question what this EVF will look like, what kind of functionality will it have to help manually focusing? If it’s just a bright, high-res viewfinder with peaking and magnification, I couldn’t care less about it. If it’s the Canon RF or Nikon Z functionality or something better, it may be interesting. Even then, I’ve always found Leica new prices insane.
I don't think I will be a customer for this camera. I am comfortable with and enjoy the Range Finder. At $9303 with current exchange rates and a 22% VAT refund available in Italy a net cost of $7256 minus the resale value of my M11 it would not be a prohibitive upgrade cost. But I expect I will wait until both M12 variants are available in hopes of also getting IBIS to decide.

Yes, Leica prices itself in the premium range. But still it is a relatively low cost life item. After basic needs are met it is always about experiences and enjoyment in life. We comfortably pay higher prices for other premium items like houses, cars, watches, clothes, furniture, art, travel, even meals. Why single out camera equipment to object to?
Now, if the Leica experience is not valuable to you, then probably not worth it to you personally.
We already know it will be expensive so what’s interesting are the technical features of the camera. What solution have they chosen for the view finder and how good is it, that’s what interest me most about this camera but also if some of the earlier issues with the M11 series are gone like the purple color cast.
Either way if the rumored dates are correct it’s going to be a very interesting second half of October.

Hey, I'm Dutch
I agree that Leica over a long period isn't a bad purchase. That M11 you helped me buy is basically still worth about what I paid for it, thus basically only costing me the price of inflation. I can't say that for my other gear.
But to me it's about what you get for the money. The M does offer a unique experience, but once you start taking the rangefinder away, how is it going to be different from a Fuji X Pro, X100VI or many other mirrorless cameras, other than it being FF? Already, we have the SL line of cameras, which are very nice, but not as capable as the competitors from other brands at lower prices.
And I don't single out camera equipment. I love small sporty cars. I have a Mazda MX5 that I hardly ever use (it's in another country than where I live most of the time). The nearest competitor would be a Porsche Boxster, but I think the MX5 offers a perfect balance between fun and the price for that fun. A used Leica to me becomes the MX5. A new one doesn't feel right in that regard.

I think we have already been shown that it does have advanced focus aids like eye recognition and confirmation.

The proof is in the pudding, though. How well does it work?
Magnification is great for accuracy, but slow. Peaking is not accurate enough. Fuji’s evf split image is execrable. We need something intuitive, comfortable to use, and fast and accurate. We’ll have to see, but to distinguish itself Leica needs to get this right, or it is dead in the water.
