If you’re on the sidelines on a monopod, no worries. But handholding could be a little more problematic

Whoaaaaaa that's really cool! F4 is a huge deal, and $6k is HALF of the Sony 600 F4.
Wonder if it can take 1.4 and 2x?

negative. same deal with the Sigma 500mm. Only L mount can use TC

I may be fine with the 15fps since I don’t like to shoot compressed raw anyhow and thus am capped at 20.
What a great release - if the autofocus works well this would be a huge winner!

I love everything about this lens except the minimum focus distance and the weight. But, at that weight it is probably going to live on a monopod or gimbal and not be great for swinging around at up close fast moving objects anyway. What I'd really like is something closer to their 500mm f5.6 weight wise @600 with a better MFD and I think Id be good... or just an updated Sony 200-600 with the same trend they've done on the MKII vers of their other lenses, lighter, improved IQ etc

Take a look at new S1RII - with that lens that will be a pretty good wildlife combo. Maybe missing few Sony top of the line features. But at way more competitive pricepoint and with super vertisality. Very exciting.
