I just received the Voigtlander 35mm f/3.5 Color-Skopar in Chrome, and I’m impressed by both its mechanics and aesthetics.
At just 14mm in length, it looks remarkably compact in person. It is even shorter than the already tiny Voigtlander 28mm f/2.8 Color-Skopar and 4mm shorter than the Leica 28mm f/5.6 Summaron. The aperture clicks are more distinct than on previous Voigtlander lenses. Even with the larger (and pretty) hood, it remains noticeably shorter than the CV 28/2.8 with its small hood.
A nice touch is that the hood also rotates the aperture. The 1mm UV filter is very well made and comes in silver to match the lens.
I haven't tested the lens yet, but its size alone is impressive, reminiscent of MS Optics lenses.
The meter arm of the CL *might* conflict, although every collapsible lens (fully collapsed) I've ever tested hasn't been an issue on CLs. The back of the lenses got close but never touched (Summitar, Summicron, Nikkor, Elmar, Fuji Cristar.) There is more room than one might think...
CLE would defintely be fine. I have a CL and it's my daily carry, with the cron 40. The new color skopar is much smaller than that. I hope the rear element won't touch the meter as well.
