Take this with a grain of salt... my local shop in Houston, has only delivered 1 body, I didn't ask when. They were advised the next batch is early March

I have a travel plan to go to Japan soon. I am thinking about just buying an A1 ii there if available. Due to the currency rate today and tax exemption, the pricing can be very attractive. My concern is that it may be difficult to get the service just in case? Is there anything else to consider?

Warranty might not be valid in the US. Some companies offer international warranties, but most don't AFAIK.

Hello,
I'm living in Japan. Yes the price is very interesting if you compare with the US but there is a big probleme the menu will be only in Japanese. It's impossible to change for an other language. And yes the warranty will work only in Japan.
For this reason I ordered in US this gear (and still waiting).
Canon : You can choose japanese/english
Nikon : You can choose japanese/english and if you pay like 40$ Nikon can add others languages
Sony : Only in Japanese

that is wild lol. i went ahead and just got a used A1 on B&H for ~4k with <1000 actuations. i wouldn't expect them to start having them readily available for another 6 months at this rate

I sold my A1 in December; trying to beat the expected glut of A1's on the used market. I have an excursion planned in a couple of weeks and didn't want to use my slow A7R5. After hearing so much bad news about the A1 iI potential delivery delays, I just purchased a used A1, for the trip, which will also be delivered on Feb 6. I feel a bit like an idiot.

The A1 can be a backup. That's what I am doing to do when I get an A1II in a couple months, keep the A1, sell the A7RV. I don't need 3 cameras.
