Those Nikon prices seem really great. Thanks for posting. I’m going to let my buddy know. He wants to get into photography and is in sticker shock mode right now.
That is one heck of a beginners setup…and if we are being honest with ourselves, it’s good enough for anyone.
I ordered one of these last week in trying to find my first (non-film) camera. Tried a Df, then a Z30, and settled on this. This is the best deal I found on a Z* with the 24-70mm f/4. Inclusive of Nikon's refurb sale. Coming from film, this is like being catapulted into the stratosphere. I am beyond happy with this combo for $899. The Z7 has now sold out, but the Z6 - likely better for most people(?) is still available!

Looks like Topaz is having a proper sale now for those disappointed with the PhotoAI "sale" with cloud credits in November, just started today that I've seen. 30% off one product, 40% off two, 50% off all three. That makes PhotoAI $139 by itself, I think I'll pick it up now.
Looks like they auto sign you up for renewal so that your card will be charged again a year from now. That was never clearly disclosed in the product ordering page. Recurring charges are bad since they are very difficult to cancel on the credit card side. I'm still trying to sort it out with them. Be warned that this is not a proper sale. IMO, this is not ethical business practice.

Not trying to defend Topaz Labs or anything but after you add the product to your cart, there's a very clear attached box that is checked to auto-renew. Scummy that they make it opt-out by pre-checking the box (should be opt-in), but it's definitely disclosed by way of it being very clear it's there in your cart.
At least, I should point out that's my experience in purchasing just a few days ago. If you purchased over a year ago and are trying to get a refund from a resub that you didn't know, then good luck, surely you can fall back on a CC chargeback at the end of the day.

Thanks. Good to know there is a check box. I definitely didn't notice it and wasn't prepared that they would do such a thing. It is scummy. I'm trying to get them to take it off from my order. On my account, it says subscription starts from ordering date and end when cancelled. So does that mean I can't get newer version even within a year of ordering after I cancel the subscription? Do you see a subscription entry on your account? This is so confusing and annoying. I don't plan to use it as daily driver, so have no interest to sign up for recurring payments.

Just took a quick look at my account and I don't see an option to setup an auto-renewal for the future, but then again, the renewal is purchasable as a stand-alone product at a lower price. If you opt out at the time of purchase, it may just not be an option again until you decide to renew, then perhaps it's a cart checkbox again (haven't tested, just guessing). The full product is usable from now until the end of time as far as I'm aware, you just won't get any new updates after that first year.

Thanks for the inputs. Sent them a message a while ago, just got a message back. Looks like the subscription part is cancelled and I should still get a full year of updates. I'm good with that.
It being a slow card kept me from buying it. It's only VPG200 rated and has a minimum write speed for 400MB/sec. It seems like we're at an inflection point with faster & cheaper (than what has been available) cards coming out.
