Great work! That tripod is a bargain at $218. I'm sure you won't be upset with your purchase.
The tripod arrived last week; unfortunately, one of the legs had a dent in it. They sent me a shipping label to return it, but wouldn't send a replacement until they got the first one. So off it went and I wait. Now today I get a notice that they've shipped a replacement, but it's shipping from China rather than their US office (where the first one came from). Hopefully that won't take too long as I'm hoping to use it over the holidays..
In the short time I had the first one, my impression was generally favorable, but it has a bit more flex in the legs than I anticipated. We'll see, I guess.
Looks like Topaz is having a proper sale now for those disappointed with the PhotoAI "sale" with cloud credits in November, just started today that I've seen. 30% off one product, 40% off two, 50% off all three. That makes PhotoAI $139 by itself, I think I'll pick it up now.

Allll aboard the A7RV train! Just got mine from GT new for $2699... no regrets!
Do you happen to know if your retailer is participating in the Sony rebate program? I was told no, after dealing with greentoe on it for 3 days to get an answer on something I put in my offer. Pretty awful CS from Greentoe so far.

Unless I'm mistaken, the rebate they ran happened last year?

I wasn't aware there was a rebate program going on atm. Do you have a link I could forward to ask?

Greentoe isn’t the retailer and depending on what the unit is being sold for (If not at retail) by the authorized dealer, then Sony might not allow it. Sony has strict agreements with their retailers—especially when it comes to advertised prices and eligibility for rebate programs.
Click on the sony one. Sigma has a few lenses with instant rebates as does Tamron. For the Sony you need a trade-in, but can just buy some of those 15 dollar plastic lens cap lenses and send those in. Hope this helps!

Yes, I know the sale isn’t from Greentoe, but they’re supposed to be the intermediary. I don’t want to explain the whole messy thing, but their service was so so.
Usually manufacturers mostly care about advertised pricing, but yes you’re right that some are stricter than others. I don’t think that is at all the issue though, as others don’t have an issue with it at all whatsoever, and they would definitely care.

Anyhow, good deals to be had!
I see that the retailer does offer a trade-in program but I don't think you will be able to negotiate that through GT. The advertised trade-in values offered through the retailer reflect a discount off of MSRP of the new purchase. Since you aren't buying at MSRP, but want a discount off of MSRP + trade-in value, you would have to contact the retailer directly and work something out under the table. I think you might have better success selling the old lenses and putting that money towards the new purchase.
I can't disclose the retailer due to the agreement in place with GT, but some searching will yield the answer you are looking for and I have heard of some success directly negotiating with the owner. Good luck!
Those Nikon prices seem really great. Thanks for posting. I’m going to let my buddy know. He wants to get into photography and is in sticker shock mode right now.
That is one heck of a beginners setup…and if we are being honest with ourselves, it’s good enough for anyone.
