One of my favorites from a recent model portfolio session. Typically I would try not to do a close up shot like this with such a wide open aperture, but in this case I really love the softness.

Canon 5D MKIII, Canon 85mm f/1.2 lens, lit using natural light and a reflector.

Love everything except the vertical line by her right temple.

Thank you. That's my one nit with this image as well. Any editing I attempted looked uncanny, so I decided it would stay.

WOW!!!!!!
Very fine composition Daniel. Too me one of your BEST!
Very classic cinema/camera technique. The tones are simply perfect! The darkness of her hair, lips, eyebrows just make her skin pop! The light falls on her most perfect Daniel!
She is the perfect subject for softness! Reminds me of the cinema/photography shot(soft lens) of Ingrid Bergman in "Casablanca".

Really a fine image Daniel!!

I ended up giving it another try and was able to get rid of the line. I was pretty tired by the time I was finishing up this edit initially and admittedly wasn't putting my best effort towards fixing that spot.

Is that line still there Daniel or Jim?

I see the dark line cutting the corner of her eye but do not find it bothersome(that may NOT be the correct word to use so forgive me if it is). It sort of lends to the blending of facial tones to dark hair tones.
She is a very beautiful, sultry woman. The small amount of darkness adds to that IMHO. Inner beauty, emotion and turmoil...

I am NOT very good at pp. But I have found some of the latest tools work very well for me. Generative Fill.....
Just a mention here...

Couldn't figure out what line, but then I found it and and thought "what the heck is that from". But, fixed is better.

No, I removed it. Here is an unedited version of the photo. The vertical line in question is in the upper left side of the image. I'm not sure what caused the bokeh to render that way, but it draws a little too much focus for my liking.

Thank you so much Dan! I was feeling a bit insecure about the choice to use an f/1.2 aperture for a close up portrait like this, but I have to say I love the softness it rendered and I'm very happy with how this shot turned out. A lot of photographers balk at using such a wide aperture for a portrait like this, but it's always been a look that I'm really drawn to.

Thank you so much James. I do as well, much more now that I removed the line in question.

I honestly don't know what caused it myself, but that's how it rendered. Either way I agree it's a much better image without it.
