That's quite a significant crop! It looks like you cropped the 60MP image from the 43mm lens to an equivalent of about 210mm, which goes beyond the crop modes on the Q3 43. As a result, your image has a depth of field of around f/10.
So, your final image is about 2.56MP, right? Still great for web sharing.
Peter Karble mentioned in an interview that as we move past 60/100MP sensors, photography will allow cropping anywhere in the image while still producing good results, especially with high-quality lenses. While this is exciting for many, I think it’s better to frame your shot properly at the start rather than rely on cropping later. That said, it seems to have worked well for you, and I’m glad you’re happy with the result! ...Show more →
Yes, that kind of cropping is for emergencies and snapshots only. Composing is one of the joys of photography.

Speaking of the Batis 40 F2.0. I would really love to see the Zeiss Batis against this Leica 43mm F2.0 lens. Where would/do they differ?
Yeah the Batis is not APO, but does have a pretty clean look. Maybe not as painterly in terms of fall off or rendering.
A good reminder to go shoot my Batis again soon! I did immediately think of that lens when I read about this Q3 43.

I just made 6 shots on my Q3 with no refocusing. So it's the same as the SL3.

With my SL3 I prefer and use the back button focus which divorces the focus from the exposure and shutter. Just wish the Q3 models had that same button.

I'm not disagreeing. The Q3 43 is my go out and have fun camera to just capture moments and share. If I'm shooting seriously I have the SL3 and the 21/35/50/75 APO-SL set to choose from to get the ideal composition.

If you are not a member of this particular forum, you probably can’t see the pictures included in the review. You may find some/additional ones here as well as I understood: https://www.slack.co.uk/articles/leica-q3-43.html
As expected for this lens, it offers a very clinical and modern rendering. Aside from the distortion, which is corrected in software, this lens is as perfect as it gets.

Micro Contrast of the APO lenses-
Thats why the 35/50 apo work so well on the monochrome cameras-
I've always said this is the least talked about thing when it comes to APO lenses. Because the color channels are propely aligned on the sensor at optimized distances, black and white images (even converted from color) have an almost hyper-real look to them.
