There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of these photos. Some amazing shots.
I’ve come to the conclusion that if you are genuinely happy with your current set up (dslr) the best thing to do is come off forums.
Forums have changed massively over the past few years, where once they were a meeting ground for those to share their passion and interests, swap ideas..now they are by and large simply marketing tools, mostly to make you think you need better, need the latest…
It never ever stops on forums, just the constant push to move up. I was a little peeved last year, now I’m getting bored.
Maybe forums should have a dslr based section only and moderators to police the topics ruthlessly.
Yes yes mirrorless is amazing, of course it is, it’s the latest !!
But as these photos clearly show DSLRS can really deliver.
We shouldn’t need to have to defend our choices for taking pictures.
The constant push will inevitably be the reason why I quit forums.

Fred gave folks a dedicated film sub-forum. Maybe if you harass him enough, he'll give you and others a dedicated DSLR sub forum. I suspect it might be a little "slow" in such a sub-forum but it looks like folks are enjoying the film forum.
Although I don't see anyone bitching about this enjoyable "Oldie" thread, so what's wrong with just joining in here to share and discuss your favorite DSLR topics?
Until then perhaps you should stay away from the "GEAR-TALK" sub-forums that are dedicated to discussing the latest and greatest new gear tech. Instead perhaps you should just enjoy all the other sub-forums that are here. I've NEVER seen anyone criticized in the presentation forums for posting film or mirror flapper images there. Just the opposite actually.

They are never gone if you loved them! My "children" have gone to a better place! I hope to be rejoined with them soon!
Beautiful!

Boo hoo, If you are so bored with this forum or site, just go away.
This thread inspired me so I went hunting for a 40D. There are MANY out there but I managed to find one in mint condition with only 2 500 (!) clicks. Almost hard to believe. It's on its way.
I will challenge myself with this one and see how much of the stuff I am doing today can be done with the oldie without having it rearing its ugly head in terms of IQ. Fortunately I am not a sports photographer so I don't have to worry about the antiqued AF system and what not...
I have a weak spot for the color profiles/rendering from the vintage Canons around this era so for me IQ will also be based on the color signature out of the gate and how the files respond in post with my editing. I remember my old 1Ds Mark III. Those files were just served on a silver plate and I didn't have to do much before they really shined. With my current R-models, not so much. They are almost clinical in comparison and need more love.

"bc"...I have found that despite the growth of IQ profiles, that MANY image files from "the daze gone by" can still produce exceptional image files!
I rarely do any motion photography any longer. Stills are my forte'. So AF tracking is no concern!
Go for it brother!

I still have and frequently use my 1DsMKII!
Last year or so I have been shooting my R5 with non RF lenses. My go to is the 300 2.8 + 1.4 .
Dug out my 1DX2 the other day and it sure feels nice to handle. Amazingly different to use than the R5 but still seems to work
F 7.1 1/1250 ... A bit loud though and does take the hummingbirds by surprise at times

Beautiful Terry! I love the robustness of the 1Dx series! Fits in my small but huge wide hands!
Great job!
