I want a 700 from sigma. Didn’t we see a patent years ago? I know there was an interview where sigma threw us off the scent, but I think the sales numbers will tell sigma what to do. Hopefully they also signal to Sony that they are missing an important part of the market.

Got my copy today and had a short spin. Only had a few minutes before dark on the kayak, so I'll do a more complete test in the future. I figured I'd share my initial thoughts.
1.)Size/weight are great. Reminiscent of Nikon 500 PF. Also fits great in my bag, so I'm able to take all my main gear in my mindshift 26L together.
2.)build quality seems really nice. No complaints from me. I especially like the tripod collar with stops for portrait and landscape orientation. I wish every lens had this.
3.)stock foot is next to useless if you intend to use as a carry handle. I plan to attach optech straps to mine to attach to my camera strap for hikes. I also like to use my foot as a base for my palm when shooting. Thankfully hejnar created an excellent foot and I will happily eat the cost for the extra functionality.
Just finished a longer outing at a local wildlife refuge. I think I'm really going to like this lens. The size and weight really work for me and make it easy to sit and wait for subjects when shooting handheld. I'm also impressed with the AF and stabilization. The new Sony glass might be slightly better, but in real world I feel like this is the best performing 3rd party lens I've ever used in these categories.
^ Images look great! I keep toying with the idea of selling my 600/4 and picking up this lens for weight and cost savings. I can then invest the savings into other gear. What holds me back is the lack of 1.4x TC capabilities on the FE mount.

That's a tough call. The 600 does so well with the TC. The size and weight of this Sigma lens do make it a joy to use though, especially if you are like me and prefer to do "photo hikes"
Well, call me crazy, I decided to sell my Sony 200-600 (too heavy and large) and buy the Sigma 500 again to use on my A1. The combination will get along well with the Z8 and 600pf.
Laslo, how does the Sony 200-600G @600 f6.3 compare to the Nikon 600pf @600 f6.3? Is the IQ close or is the prime much sharper? Just curious... Thanks!

The IQ is about the same, but the 600pf is easier to handle due to weight and size and easier to get on the BIF. I can also shoot the 200-600 on the Z8 with the Megadap adapter and results are very good.
My brother was just here....sold him my 600/4 two weeks ago....I asked him if he had any buyers remorse. He said he gets much less shots compared to his 200-600 but when he gets the shot it is really nice. Plus he is using the 600/4 with the 2.0TC, something he was not happy about doing with the 200-600.
I've got no regrets either going to the Sigma. Age and weight bearing capacity of my frame dictated that or mFT and I'm using the OMs 1ii+300/4 a lot too.
I'm just thankful for options and in a lot of ways the Sigma came at an opportune time.

I think both are sharp, and I don’t do much pixel peeping, but no problems with significant crops with either system. The main advantage to me is smaller size and less weight of the 600pf. I have used the 1.4tc on the 600pf and it seems to perform better than the 200-600 with a tc. Below is a link to a few I took with the 600PF and 1.4TC.
Here are a few more non-bird photos. I have a bunch more, but the spring here in Boston has been beautiful and I'm only able to chip away at my edit queue from different cameras and lenses bit by bit.
