BTW Where have you seen A7c r selling for 3000e? Typical price is close to 3500e, although I do not expect it to stay that high for long. Waiting for 2999e

I have tons of pics shot faster than 1/2000 at f1.4. Having to attach a nd filter to keep my bokeh clean is just a plain downgrade for me.
I can live without the joystick, with the crappy EVF or just one SD and but not without a mechanical shutter.

It seems like some a7CR/ii owners feel a need to defend or justify their choice of camera. No need to. If you are happy and it works for you - all the power to you.
I had one and didn't like the handling and shooting experience, sticking to a7RV.
It is all good. Whatever floats your boat. Let's make some images!

I see the topic title asking "why the A7Cr is not selling well", and the only answer for this, from my part, is "because of its price".
We all know that all cameras (and lenses, for that matter) are compromises of features, size, weight, price, build quality and so on. Problem is to find the "right" compromise at the right price. So "why the A7Cr is not selling well"? Because it is too expensive for what it offers (for many photographers).
Now looking at some grey market prices, it starts to look compelling (@ 2500 EUR).

Yes, the price is the main reason that people would hesitate. The very similar (just lower resolution) but lower priced A7CII is selling extremely well.

I thought this comment was interesting as it shows a difference in perspective.
The way I was seeing these posts, it seemed to me that some posters who for whatever reason didn't buy an A7Cr/ii are trying to defend/justify their decision.

Maybe this is because some people are trying to respond to the topic's question, in fact.
Then, at least for me, would be difficult to differentiate between "defend/justify" and "explain" their decision.
So if one lists all the things that he/she dislikes about the A7Cr camera, and decides it's not worth its price/is not going to buy one, then is this defending/justifying or explaining his/her decision?
On the other hand, I was expecting this camera to be "better" (e.g. meeting MY expectations), and was really dissapointed of what has Sony came out with (especially for the price). So yes, for me at least, there is a sort of "hate" for Sony's decisions. Maybe for others too....

The topic of the thread asks why people are not buying the A7CR. Of course that means people answer stating why they decided not to buy it - not sure what else you would expect?

I haven't read every post in this 16 page thread, but those which I have read I must admit I haven't really seen anger coming through. I fall into the 2nd group. I am not angry with the A7CR or Sony. I do wish that it had slightly fewer compromises for what is ultimately a fairly mediocre financial saving versus the A7RV, and unfortunately at least one of those compromises is a hard deal breaker for me so this camera is a firm no buy unless it was absurdly cheap. I would consider the cheaper A7C II for family photos and such, where a 2nd card slot is far less critical to me, but have no plans to actually buy it at this point.

Who in the hell is angry . For those not buying it just not makes sense to them be it cost, feature sets or really anything else. We have other cams to use. Actually at least several for sure. Most my bet is its only 900 cheaper than a A7RV and really all you get is small and less weight. At 1200 difference im sure it maybe worth it more to some. For myself it's just not a need as other cams serve me better and im sure others feel the same. Just to be clear I bought every Sony mirrorless made since the A7R so im a fanboy of Sony stuff this just does not make sense for me personally. That's okay Sony still loves me for buying everything else.
Im sure in other cases people may have not got what they wanted in this cam and I understand that , neither did I but to be angry is ridiculous another entry will be out soon im sure of it. The bigger issue I have seen with Sony is they penny pinch this stuff and not everything gets passed on to newer versions.
Just to be clear I had 2 count them A7c bodies but this one the math did not add up for my needs. Honestly the cam I really want is the A9III but at 24mpx again it's not want I want. Back to my point things get left out on these cams .

I keep trying to justify the a9iii but the MP is just not good enough for wildlife in the Uk,
I am getting the A7Cr, I fully understand it’s strengths and weaknesses and for my use it’s fine, my rv will be upgraded to the a1ii otherwise I would of got the a7cii, but crop mode for macro and primes is very useful
As GM says, plenty of cameras out ther to suit all our needs

I know I’m the unusual one because I like the A7CR, A7CII, and A6700. Each has different strengths but now people have a plethora of choices for a backup or travel camera. I’m in that category. I’m not a blogger or videographer so not familiar with the ZV-E1 or ZV-E10 or FX-30 but that is six cameras Sony has added in the last year to two years so hard not to find something that can supplement a kit.
Sure they will not replace my A1’s or A7RV but nice to have for travel/backup. Enjoy.

I use mine for backpacking, backcountry skiing, and climbing photography. Although the weight difference is minuscule, I do notice a difference in form factor. Holding on to it isn't as comfortable as my old A7iv, however, how small it packs is huge for me! The 60mp is huge for cropping as well.

The biggest asset was a small lets say Ona Bowery bag between the A7RV and my A7c the A7c fit much nicer Sideways. Now my 6700 is even better in that bag. Options Options and more cam Options.

Is your bag leather or canvas? What else are you able to keep in it besides the A6700? Which lenses. I know you had the E 16-55/2.8 G, What else? Do by any chance carry a flash at all? If so which one? Thanks for your time.

I only had budget for the a7CII and even then it was a stretch, I guess I could eventually upgrade to a used one (wish mostly for pixel-shift), but now I'm very satisfied with the CII and the only reason I would buy another camera is the tilt+flip LCD, that flip mechanism truly bothers me a lot

I have the Ona Bowery Canvas . Love this bag. 6700 with 16-55 attached and my little Laowa 9mm but you can fit a bigger lens and maybe 2 if small enough. Great bag been using it for awhile now. Nice looking as well. Im stylish for sure.
