A few more from last night, the hummingbird and a cantaloupe that decided to grow in our landscaping. Both at 600mm f/6.3, hummingbird heavily cropped and denoised. I am amazed at the detail and rendering of this lens at its maximum aperture.

I bought this lens a few months ago, and while I am still learning, managed to get some nice shots while on Vancouver Island last month. First one was from a walk in a park in Victoria, and the other two are from a whale watching trip out of Ucluelet

Looked out my kitchen window yesterday morning and this guy was wrestling with a squirrel in the yard. By the time I got out there he had flown into a tree. Never caught the squirrel. Horrible conditions but a pretty hawk.

I'm still editing work from my winter trip to Japan. The 180-600 was my go to lens when photographing eagles hunting on shelves of sea ice.

Some days things just work in your favor , like perfect lighting from the heavens. After work at Onion Creek in Austin , Crested Caracara , Broad-winged Hawk. The lighting was just perfect, and I didn't even use the fancy lenses. No crops allowed.
Bonus Juvi red-shouldered from this morning.

I have been looking through the images in this thread trying to find one that shows the "nervous jittery" out of focus bokeh I get in the specular highlights (sunlight in water) with my new 180-6500mm lens. So far, I am not seeing anything as bad as my lens gives. (page 46 # 13) Your image does not seem to suffer from this.

The photos in this thread are pretty amazing and I hope that I will learn to shoot that way over time. May I ask, are most of these shot hand held or from a tripod? I have a tripod and gimbal and will probably shoot this way most of the time, as I find that I am pretty shaky when hand-holding my Z8 180mm-699mm combo. I have only had this setup for a couple of days and I am coming from a Canon R6 + 100mm-500mm which is a bit lighter. The pictures themselves come out pretty good so the VR is obviously doing its thing, but the viewfinder does tend to wander.
