sum1sgrampa it seems all your images have a -2.3 EV applied to them. Can I ask what the thought process is with this? You produce some great images and I'd love to know what the strategy is behind sitting at -2.3 EV, if you in fact are and it's not just a quirk in the file uploads.

I got to spend about an hour with a very patient juvenile green heron the other day while he was fishing.

From this Sunday's NYC Staten Island Triathlon.

This is a steal of the century. A 600mm zoom for less than $1700. Is sharp wide open. Shooting at F6.3 or F7 at the long end aren't really distracting if you are shooting in the open area.

Great Heron shots ! I've yet to see one this year which is very strange.
I think that -2.3 EV is some kind of quirk. I shoot in manual. No Auto ISO. I've come to rely totally on the WYSIWYG method

I never pay attention to metering at all. Just go with what I see in the viewfinder. Appreciate the kind words !

There are so many amazing pictures in here, I love the clarity and vibrance of them.
Just beautiful captures.
Don't know if I use my Z180600 a 100% correctly, if I compare mine to other photos, I seem to have not the sharpest ones, but it is fun to shoot with it nonetheless. Hopefully I will improve further to create pictures like these, too!

This common linnet sat quite patiently in a tree, so I could carefully creep a little closer, and I was so, so happy, because it is my first encounter with this beautiful bird.

Thank you so much! I just noticed that almost all pictures ooc need to be processed in a noise reduction program, otherwise they look very "mushy". Maybe it's my eyes which are used to all these very clear images nowadays? Anyway, I've learned I really need to get close to a bird otherwise there is no chance to get really nice looking photos
