I’m just using a 256 v30 which has been fine. I’m not high frame rate burst shooting with backup enabled though, just 5fps max with backup.

Thanks Scott, sounds like it will be enough.

I use the same card in your link. 128gb. Works fine for casual use - I don't spray my shots but for a burst at 5fps for a couple of seconds it works ok and 128gb is plenty as my backup card

Cool, just ordered one. I just need a backup just in case.

I dont know how I'm gonna set it up yet, but I think I just do full backup of both jpg+raw.

My Zf came on Saturday!

No idea when or if the Voigt 35 APO will show (if at all) from B&H.

Anyone using the 26 2.8 as a primary walkaround/travel prime on their Zf? I've had mine with the 50 1.8 S since October and I absolutely love it, but am looking for something a little bit more manageable size wise for grab-and-go use.

26 is a great little lens (much more enjoyable to use and results than the 28 to my eye). I’ve used it on the ZFc when I had one and also on my Z8 as a compact option. I’ll most often take the 40mm over the 26 for this use case unless I am going to be in a small space. I like it as a wide option that delivers without using much space in my bag.

Why not the 40/2 if you like the 50 look?

Something different! Also, "grab and go" for me typically entails house parties, road trips, nights out, etc. It would be nice to have something a little wider than a standard lens (I also have an X100V, which fills the 40mm-ish niche well for me at the moment).

I was eyeing the 26 2.8 then checked out christopher frosts video on it. I don't know how much of a pixel peeper you are but the corner performance is not good.

I do keep unreasonably high standards

It always boils down to one's budget for lens recommendations but here goes mine;

Ive been adapting leica lenses and that opens a world of options. but the techart adapter is an additional $400...buy once, cry once?

if you decide to give that a shot the 21 f4 color skopar has been a solid performer and is extremely compact...but f4

The zeiss classic zf.2 25mm f2 had been my most used option til recently. I found the 25mm big at first then a few days later it was a non-issue. That zeiss has a strong following for good reason.

I was also eyeing the 28 2.8 elmarit. Everyone seems to love that lens. If I didn't try the otus, I'd probably be using the elmarit today. I found 25 a tad too wide in most scenarios for my style.

all 3 of those would give you great image quality.

also the thypoch 28 1.4 is a killer lens. highly recommended that one

I don't even use any Z lenses so not sure what to recommend there. I also bought the 50 1.8s with my zf. I tested it along side a 50 summilux and the z never came back out of the box.

cheers

Thanks for the recommendations! I go back and forth on whether I want to pick up some manual focus glass; my heart perpetually tells me yes, but my brain and experience always remind me that I simply won't use it. I'm big on simplicity and convenience right now, and a tiny autofocus lens -- imperfect though it may be -- is something that would make my life better and photography more fun.

All of which is to say, I'm sure I'll have an APO Voigtlander this time next month.

That techart adapter turns manual focus lenses into autofocus. It's got 4 linear motors in the adapter (i think) so it just pushes the lenses in and out to achieve focus.

Eye tracking etc works with leica lenses now. I also adapt old nikon lenses to leica so I can have af on them too. It's a really cool contraption. The whole reason I got a Z camera was to use the adapter lol

Thypoch 28 is a bit of an odd rec if you value IQ since it's one of the worse Thypochs when mounted to Z due to sensor thickness differences. All they did was take the M design and slap a Z mount on it without accounting for the sensor.

I also have a hard time with them giving M glass contacts but not Z. Hoping they have a Mark II line that fixes both of these things.

are you speaking from personal experience? you own one and have personally tested it out right?

recent shots from my thypoch 28 and zf

Read plenty and seen plenty to believe what I've read. Not sure what those are supposed to prove about corner performance but I'm happy you like it

the idea that someone jumps to ZF to adapt M lenses because they are IQ obsessive is just...odd.

The lens performs fine
gives op a 1.4 advantage over 2.8
it clearly works in the scenario he's looking to use it for
I've used it.
I find all my recommended lenses to have more character/quality than the nikon offerings. My personal & sound opinion.

why am I explaining anything to this goofy weirdo...again

Doesn't this forum have enough of your spray fart mucking it up?

---------
Here's an odd move. Why put a easily corrected mistake on your website?

You saw the sensor spot right? I know it's inconspicuous. No one else thought to give you the heads up?

If you can't share an acceptable website image, you need to improve your post processing skillset.

Or at least roam towards an eye doctor?

Thank you. I just recently bought the 20, taking it tomorrow to Marrakech, going to see the power of 20mm wideness

Did not know about this at all! I'm considering/trying to pick up an M film body right now as well... if the lenses can pull double duty, well, I'm obligated to buy them in that case, right?

I can find no flaws in your logic.

also with the techart adapter; if you move the focus ring from infinity to .7 (or whatever closest focus is) you can focus even closer than advertised on the lens.

It's kind of like a bonus extension tube that also allows infinity focus.

Those savings alone should net you a bonus M mount lens. In my professional opinion.

Anyone else surprised by the lack of a substantial firmware update to date for the Zf? We all know to buy something and be happy as is and not count on software tweaks down the road, but, this seems very unlike Nikon...
