I need to fix it as my Zf in majority of the cases does not pick right AWB.
Its always between indoor light, sunny (Auto ABW) or cloudy day.

Absolutely not. My ZF lives on WB A2.

Same here, except some cloudy sunsets.

I rarely ever touch WB on my Zf (it is set on WB a1)...it is very good for me 95% of the time, and the rest is easy to fix in post.

Sometimes when shooting indoors I might move it to wb a0 because the lighting in our house is very warm.

Great... so what am I doing wrong?
I mean, its not like always, but recently during my trip I had to change it couple of times, when changing surroundings.

Make sure your RAW converter isn't set to apply an Auto setting. I find the camera AWB on Nikon's to be FAR more accurate to the RAW converter's default Auto setting.

Way too many variables for us to know. I told another guy here to format his camera for his way-too-blue WB and that worked.

Where in menu can I find that?

The import settings you use for your raw converter. If misconfigured they will override the camera's white balance choice.

Oh, I don't do raw, I mean I take raw+jpg, but haven't done anything yet with raws.

Thank you all for a great discussion.

I have been a Nikon and Leica user for many years and was about to buy a Zf. My most memorable images were taken with Leica glass. I had considered to use the Zf primarily with M-mount lenses. The discussion in this thread, especially about glass plate thickness contributed to my education and decision.

Guess I will be looking for a digital M to my film Ms.

Question for the zf (probably applies to other z models too?) - is there a setting that allows you to set independent focus areas for each focus mode?

What I would like to do is have my s-af set to single point AF on default and my c-af to the dynamic area AF. Right now I use the record button to cycle through my s-af, c-af, and mf. I'm usually using c-af but sometimes want to quickly switch to single point s-af and vice versa. The camera will use the same focus area as you swap between focus modes but I was hoping there was a setting to customize this and have each focus mode use the last focus area you had used previously with that specific mode. This was a bit of word vomit but hopefully it makes sense.

Not the Zf. I'm pretty sure you need a Nikon like the Z6III with the "U1, U2, U3" custom controls on the top mode dial that save various configurations to do that.

Interesting post.

I have also primarily been in the Leica ecosystem for a while. Currently use the SL3 with the 21, 35, 75 APO Summicron SL lenses, the 50 Summilux SL and have the Q3 43.

I picked up the zf with the Voigtlander 50mm f/1 Nokton and the 40 1.2 Nokton. My SL3 and Q3 43 aren't great at low light AF and even manual focus can be difficult as the EVF has a strange lag at times in low light and the zoom function seems to have artifacts in low light that make critical focus difficult. So far I'm very happy with the zf, but I'm only using it in manual focus mode. I don't look at it as a replacement for my Leica cameras, but I think it makes for a fantastic option if I want something that has a very special look to it with the two lenses I have. I wish that Leica would implement a similar manual focus experience on their EVF cameras, but I wonder if they will forego it to protect the integrity of the M rangefinders.

That's quite a stable! I agree that Zf functionally fits between the M and SL.

Question: I have a bunch of E-mount lenses (CV 28/1.5, CV 50/1.2, CV 75/1.5, 24 GM, 35i, 50/1.2 GM & 20-70 G) and I’m looking at the ZF w/Megadap adapter. I’m not particularly concerned about AF speed for my AF lenses, but will I run into any issues using these lenses as far as IQ is concerned due to the sensor stack difference? And will my E-mount Voigtlander lenses still transmit Exif data and trigger the manual focus aids on the Zf?

Thank you!

I’ve made a video about some of the key settings to mind on the ZF, which might be especially helpful for folks coming over from another brand.

Looks like they'll release a silver version later this year:

Hopefully this zf lineup continues but also expands a bit. I love my zf as a family cam but I really want smaller, less perfect primes and a smaller rangefinder style body. I’ll keep trying to manifest it.

Silver Zf is as disappointing as it gets, but if it helps Nikon fund more development, so be it.
