Just got mine last week. The Rich Tone Portrait is good enough for quick snaps out of camera.

I got the chance to use both my Zf & Zfc toghether yesterday. Both with manual focus primes. My job was to take outdoors low light promotion pictures of an author with Cerebral palsy. My Zfc realy fel short. With the Zf motive focus point following I nailed almost 100% even with manual focus and large aperture.

And for the videopart, with an AF lens it followed his eye perfectly even though he moved constantly in unpredictable ways.

Nice guy anyway, I will definitly read his new book.

Just a quick follow up from my post the other day...especially since I've taken some photos with the Zf.

It's a joy to shoot and just feels great in my hands. I still haven't installed the Smallgrip....just enjoying it as it is. Granted, I've mainly have just used the 40mm and short shooting durations allow me to go without...but I at least have it when/if needed.

I actually bought this to possible replace my X100V so I could keep all my gear under one brand...but it's obviously a little larger, so suspect I'll be keeping the Fuji for a bit longer. Since the AF/GUI is the same as the Z9/Z8....seems this could almost replace my recently acquired Z8 since I've been gravitating to it for fun shooting versus the Z8.

Also been researching adapted and MF lenses. Seems the options are unlimited, however, still looking for a the perfect 28mm setup outside the Z Special Edition version. Looking for something that has an aperture ring and manual focus so zone-focusing is easier. The limiting factor is looking for one that's not four inches long...which kills the slim silhouette of the Zf. Looking like I'll be getting the Z SE version....albeit not having the aperture nor depth of field markings on the lens.

Anyways - here are a few shots I took a couple of days ago. Street-type photography is a work-in-progress for me, but enjoying the journey with my new camera..aka 'buddy'.

Happy New Years to all!

Fantastic images. I’d love one of these as a z8 companion.

How about adapting one of these , I don't think they are much bigger than the cheap TT artisan version.

Yeah the M Color Skopar is your best bet, it's quite a bit smaller than the F version and the M>Z adapter is half the size of the F>Z adapter.

Thank you! The Zf would make a nice companion to any setup, but especially the Z9/Z8 bodies. Not quite the same ergonomics button wise, but close enough to make transitioning from body to another mostly seamless. I do still look for the extra function buttons on the 9 that are missing on the 8 and Zf…but it’s not a deal breaker.

Thanks for the info and this solution seems familiar while researching the various brands and adapters. So many options, pros, and cons to many solutions…hard to keep it all straight.

But - will circle back on your recommendation and thanks for taking the time to share!

Thanks for feedback Scott, will definitely investigate this recommended setup!

Very nice B&W. How did you set for this B+W?

Thank you. I suspect you're familiar with the B&W mode that is switchable under the shutter speed dial. However, since I was shooting RAW, they initially imported into LRC B&W and then it coverts it back to the original color RAW file. So - I flipped it back to Adobe Monochrome within LRC. I believe there is a way to set it up LRC to import as B&W when importing, but really haven't dug to deep into it.

I think I'll probably resort to shooting RAW on the SD card and then copying a B&W JPEG to the micro....but I need to see if that's possible.

Then the color profile is Adobe Monochrome. Very good!
Many thanks

You can also use the camera matching profiles, including Nikons Deep Monochrome, which is great.

I'm finding the colors are nice too. I'm tending towards the various Adobe profiles and have used Cobalt Standard for some portraits. Wish the 40mm was a better lens but maybe more SE lenses will come now that it is selling well. I've been trying my Sony GMs via the Metadap adapter and they are working fine.

Interesting to hear chatter about Adobe color profiles being preferred. They are quite bad on Z8/Z9 files.

Yeah, it's of course personal preference. I am a fan of the Adobe Landscape profile for most cameras so long as I reduce the clarity slider, so that probably gives you a sense of my bias. For portraits I like the Cobalt profiles more as a starting point.

To those who have or have shot with both, do you find the 3D tracking for focus and recompose on still subjects to be similar in performance between the ZF and Z8?

I've started shooting the OM-1 again and the 3D tracking is what I miss the most.

I've had a strange issue the other day.
After taking a picture, I pressed the Playback button to review it through the EVF and it took an unusually long time for the picture to appear.

I then took another picture and this time, I saw the hourglass icon appearing on the EVF while I waited for the picture to show up, but it didn't happen. The hourglass icon remained on the screen indefinitely.
Eventually, I switched off the camera as there was no way to clear up the EVF.

The issue hasn't happened again ever since, but now I wonder if there's something wrong with my camera.

Has anyone ever experienced a similar camera freezing?
