Q3 43 pics this afternoon in the backyard. Tried several different combos for these pics as following a vizsla can be quite challenging. I found the iAF and eye/subject/pet tracking to be best. Also had to put iso up to 400 to get a decent shutter speed. From first glance, even at iso 400 doesn't seem to be as clean as the M11

Excellent series, Fred. The key question is: how do you get family members, especially daughter, to accept to be in the photos? :-) Mine, after becoming a teenager, just puts up a hand...

I use this setup to test all of my new lenses. Shot as RAW, Q3 43, ISO 100, f/2.8, 1/200s. Tweaked a tad in ACR. The snail is sharper than I've seen from any of my other lenses, including Z 50 S f/1.8 & Z 85 S f/1.8.

This is just a test shot, but it demonstrates how the Q2 lens can achieve a 14mm focal length equivalent by stitching three vertical shots into a panorama. The key is to use the "Perspective" option in Lightroom's panorama feature. If you use the "Spherical" option, you'll get a 21mm focal length equivalent. I also used the "Fill Edges" feature, which worked great for this image. The resulting image is 168MP. This technique is perfect for traveling with just the Q series camera. The three vertical shots were taken handheld with all manual controls on the camera.
So, with the Q2 and some technique, you can achieve focal lengths of 14mm, 21mm, and 28mm, as well as use in-camera crops like 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm. The 14mm option provides 168MP of high detail. The 21mm option provides 81MP. ...Show more →
This gives me a new idea to try with the Q2M. Thanks for sharing this. I historically have not done much stiching, but have played with it a bit lately.
I don't think anyone should be surprised that a fixed APO lens in this price range can produce a sharper image than a $500 consumer lens, especially since it tooks Leica several years to develop and release the Q3-43. This is optimization you actually pay for, and that you can crop in like this is just a benefit from a 60 MP sensor. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad it is working! :-)

It’s MUCH sharper than ANY lens I’ve ever used….but I’ve never used the Leica APOs before.
