Today was a particular solar alignment that results in the sun passing behind the CN Tower shortly after sunrise if you are shooting from Whimbrel Point. There's a bi-annual meetup to shoot the sunrise and I joined it.

Here's a couple shots:

2. After sunrise many of us stayed to shoot birds, it's a bit of a birder's paradise in the city. I joined them despite not really having suitable glass and got this female Red Wing Blackbird shortly after takeoff

Both images are shot with the R7 and RF-S 18-150

Finally!
I finally got a few shots of one of my nemesis birds that I've been trying to get for years now.

And to think I almost left the camera home for this mornings hike in the mountains.

I've been wanting to try the R5 for some while now and a good deal presented itself so I pulled the trigger. My wife and I took a hike the other night to the Portland International Rose Test Garden (which were slightly past their peak) so I brought the R5 and 24-105 (non L version) and I have to say I'm VERY impressed. Coming out of the camera the images looked pretty ordinary and after minimal processing (in Capture One 22 Pro) I'm very happy.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought a bug would make me late for work. Until this morning.

As I was getting ready for work this morning, my wife spotted this new born 13 year Cicada on a fence post along our sidewalk. Needless to say as soon as she told me I went out to look at it and it was love at first sight.
To hell with work, I knew what I had to do. It was my duty.

Both are handheld 20 frame focus stacks with a few omitted frames due to my morning coffee buzz.
