I went out to a local lake the other day and 3 terns were out fishing for several hours in the same proximity. I brought my Z8 + 400mm f/4.5 (which I just received) along with my Canon R5. I'll omit any comparisons from this thread, but here is one of my favorite sequences that I captured with the Z8 combo.
A couple shots with the Z8 and 70-200 at last weekends travel ball tournament. I love having 2 bodies again. Being able to keep the 400mm f2.8 tc on the Z9 and something else shorter on the Z8 was a huge benefit.
Pitching photos are not of my son. All the others are though.

2nd keeper from my Z8. June 4, 5:57am. Crazy light that morning, later found out due to the Canadian forrest fires, and I am in Southeast PA USA. Pretty wild, during the next few days, it became worse, but on that morning, just beautiful. Z 24-120mm f4 s, ISO 800, 1/160, F4, 74mm. June 4, 5:58AM 2nd Light by Michael Spinelli, on Flickr

Nice Robert. Looks like a great trip.
Thank you. It was a great trip. Unfortunately, the water levels were the highest on record for the month of June which made finding jaguars really hard. Also the high water levels made it tough to get clean shots from the boat--handholding either body with the Z 400mm 2.8TC.
The Z8 is just as kids-compatible (as in being able to catch up with kids' movements) as the Z9!
The first shot, I called my son, and as soon as he saw it was a camera pointed at him, he turned right back to his iPad, but I was able to freeze that instant.
And the focus compatibility with 3rd party adapters is amazing! The Fringer had no trouble locking on focus using Canon lenses.
I visited Lofoten again earlier in the year. Not a great experience TBH. Warm and wet with too many tourists and photography "workshops" driving endlessly about taking the same pictures. In the interests of our poor planet and my own creativity and sanity I am disinclined toward further long haul travel. Anyway some pictures, beginning with a few Lofoten cliches - all shot with Z6, Z9, 14-24z and 24-120z.
EDIT: I meant to comment originally too on the little 14-25z f2.8. It's an absolute gem.
