It might be worth a try downgrading the firmware.
Personally I stick to 1.4.0, as it makes using the adapter in extended mode easier.

No, did not work. I contacted TechArt and Yeboo (the Amazon seller), and both have declined to be helpful. Given you and others have had this issue as well, I wouldn’t buy this at all. Even with a warranty, seems to have poor build/reliability and it’s $400. I used mine very little. What a joke.

My LM-EA7 still functions fine and I got it at launch.

That's too bad...I checked mine, found that it wouldn't really focus after some time with my Summilux 50 . Noticed the battery was low, put a fresh one in and it seems to be working fine now. I still have the old firmware it came with. Bought mine here from someone who bought it off Amazon
I do notice that it seems to work better with my Voigtlander 50/1.2 than my Summilux 50.
Hope they can keep upgrading the firmware, I feel like it still needs tweaking, at least on my a7r4.

No, in my a7r4.
I guess the point being that my battery (in the body) was down to 6% when I popped the Ea9 on my a7r4 and tested it out and lost AF ability, just wouldn't AF even with assistance.
Put a charged battery in my a7r4 and the combo's worked again. Thought that was a little strange. Maybe it was the charge? Maybe it was the Battery camera re-boot? I dunno

Many goods sold on Amazon are counterfeit and Amazon does not control their supply chain. My guess is Techart will not support items bought on Amazon because it does not distribute via Amazon.

Maybe they should publish that info. Their website has a dealer page, but it's just a vehicle to become a dealer. That seems to imply that their product can be purchased indirectly. But there doesn't seem to be any info as to what dealers are "approved" dealers.

It's confusing for sure. On Techart's website, they have a warning about this:

"1 year warranty. No warranty will be provided to eBay / Amazon purchase. Please also READ THIS BEFORE PURCHASE."

Here is the answer I got from Techart contact about the lack of warranty for Amazon/Ebay purchases:

"It's because our sales & marketing team is currently only looking after the overseas market but Amazon is flooded with Chinese dealers who will otn provide any pre/post sales service. The sales of those Chinese dealers will not be counted towards us and so they are just taking advantage of all our marketing to sell the adapter. That’s the reason why we are not offering warranty to any Amazon or Ebay purchase too. Hope you understand."

My first prototype developed focusing issues as well but the replacement unit I used for the review worked flawlessly even with heavy lenses like the Leica 75/1.4 Lux and 90/2 AA. I ended up buying one and so far no issues but I have to confess that I have not used it that much.

I’m suggesting that Techart needs more prominent content ion their website which lays out valid ways to purchase theirs products. Not just a small blurb on the product page.

Like authorized distributors by country/region.

If that means only buying direct from Techart, so be it.

I also had the problem of motor mulfunction.
My seller suggested me to downgrade firmware to 1.5.0.
Then reset the adapter by taking a picture at F90.
After switched off/on the camera, my adapter came back to life.
I did some test and it seemed ok.
I have not upgraded the formware to 1.6.0 yet.
Hope that this instruction may help you.
