I also had the problem of motor mulfunction.
My seller suggested me to downgrade firmware to 1.5.0.
Then reset the adapter by taking a picture at F90.
After switched off/on the camera, my adapter came back to life.
I did some test and it seemed ok.
I have not upgraded the formware to 1.6.0 yet.
Hope that this instruction may help you.
@nehemiahphoto,
Could you please try reseting your adapter and see if fixes the issue?
@hassanet Just tried this, AND IT WORKED! Adapter is back to normal—tried it with several lenses, animal and human eye AF. Interestingly, after I downgraded it to v1.5, it still didn’t work. Needed that f90 reset. Thank you very much.
@fredmiranda Thanks for tagging me, and I would put this in the front page. Odd that I contacted TechArt directly and they offered no help. Same with the seller.
@BastianK Might be helpful for others to put this reset protocol on your review. Revived my adapter—I am sure others are having similar issues.

That is great news!
Perhaps just a reset was needed (F90)
BTW, the F90 setting is not mentioned in the manual. If I remember correctly, F90 was the setting to update the firmware via bluetooth with the original TAP (LM-EA7). Apparently now it's a reset aperture setting.

@nehemiahphoto@, did the reset permanently fixed the issue you were having?
no, it failed a couple days after with minimal use with lenses under 500g’s.
Total piece of crap IMO given there are other reports of the device failing so soon. if I could return it, I would for cash, and then I would probably purchase the original version which is still working for me just fine when I do use it, even with heavier lenses like the Noct 50/1.

My experience and sentiment as well.
My 9 is pretty much dead, I can get it to work for a snap or 2 every once in a while, the 7 still works good enough. $400 though? man..

Very dissatisfying. Sorry to hear you had the same issues. Fred had a dud at first too. I saw some review of it where another shooter has the same issue.
Has anyone any experience with the TechArt LM-EA9 and the Sony A7RV? I'm curious if the AI AF chip makes it work better (or worse) than on other Sony body?
Also if there are any AF-settings that has proven to work better (or worse) on the A7RV?
I bought the Techart Pro LM-EA9 from Techartpro.com. The adapter stopped working after one week. The motor was humming but does not move. Updating firmware or remount the adapter doesn’t resolve the issue. Seems a mechanical failure. I then realized they don’t have an email contact info on the website. Filling the form online led to a 404 webpage error, replying to admin email (sales confirmation) doesn’t trigger any response. The adapter is under warrantee but what good is warrantee if there is no one to call? Does anyone have a valid Techart Pro contact? Thanks for your help.

Update March 13: Contacted Techart Pro team in China, understand the Techartpro.com is not the official store of Techart but one of the distributors. Aftersales support is organised by each distributor. They are aligning internally so stay tuned.
Much truth in that, but they are the only game in town for this type of functionality. B&H return policy has been top notch and they have even stretched the warranty period a tad to keep customers happy--at least that has been my experience.

I’ve been very happy with performance on the A7r5. Ibe been working through my collection of most of the non super tele OM Zuiko (film era) primes, and it has worked with all, in the outer areas with most.
No failure yet, though based on what others here say I’m nervous.
AF-C of course. Usually eye AF. Won’t work stopped down too much, especially in low light.

Thanks!
Have you compared the A7RV with the TechArt LM-EA9 to how it works on other bodys? What I am fishing after is if the AF AI chip gives any benefits with the TechArt adapter?

No sorry....but since that chip underlies eyeAF it would be surprising if there wasn't some benefit...
