Hawk with the squirrel was awesome.
Hummingbird pics are spectacular.

Of course, a lot of that is the skill of the photographer - in my hands, the results might be different. Nice shots, all.

Good job!
I've seen that a couple times and always wanted pictures. I know what camera I'll take for the next time.

Duncang, I have a question for you. What is the length of the R7 + RF 100-400 measured on the bottom from lens cap to rear display? I have a camera pouch I've used for several XXDs + 70-300 II and I'm hoping it might fit this combo. Thanks!

Around 24cm without lens hood on and 31cm with lens hood on - tempted to cut the lens hood back a little so it will fit in the Lowepro Toploader Zoom 55AW I have.

I will be looking for a sling bag of some sort that can take the combo with the hood on so it is quicker to take out - not so much of a fan of the top loader style.

That actually might make a difference

About 9.4 inches. Thanks. I’m using a pouch I made from wetsuit material. Covers the camera and lens when over my shoulder or hangs in my pack. This will be its third camera.

If anyone is interested I posted some A1 gannet images that were taken at the same time as those from the R7 posted above in the Wildlife forums or use the links below for both the R7 and A1 images.

Duncang,
My SO is using a Think Tank Holster 20.The R7 with RF 100-400 and hood attached fits very nicely with the zipper extention unzipped. It will also fits when adding the RF 1.4, but it is very tight. I have been very happy with all Think Tank products I have used. As I was proofreading what I wrote, saw you are not a fan of toploaders. Posting anyway if it helps someone. We always want to have the hood attached in our bags, if possible.
Dave

Both sets seem very good. Do you feel one has a significant edge over the other.

Not a sling bag but this relatively small and light backpack has 2 zippered compartments. You can fit the R5/6/7 with the 100-500L attached and hood in position on any one side of the 2 separate compartments.

Apologies in advance for anyone who does not love snakes...after all this one is harmless

My best guess is he was tasting the water (he was fishing in a stream). In the other shot I accidentally captured a random moment when a water strider was right in front of him, the snake doesn't care about the water strider though, just wants to fish...

I have had mine now for about 3 weeks and overall i think it's the best APSC camera Canon has build to date! That being said i feel that they left out a couple things that would have made it a lot better and fixed the few problems i have with it. It should have been built on the R6 body that would have given it the third wheel which i really miss and it should have had a CF Express card B slot that it needs in a very bad way which in turn would have help with the buffer which is stupid short. But other than that it's seems to be a lot of camera for the price. Great detail handle high ISO good. I'm liking it so for.

Totally agree, and using the R6 body would also solve the battery grip problem

And, more importantly, I agree it is a great value for the money.

These were "4K" (3240x2160) crops (~7MP). Still a bit too warm to really take advantage of the pixel density of the R7, but getting there.
