Wow Greg, You have a great collection from Yellowstone. Unfortunately, the prices of lodging make it almost impossible for mere mortals to stay near Yellowstone any more. Over $200 for a Super 8 motel. Bruce

Great set. My favorites are the BIF with mountain background, and the wolf with reflection in the pond.

Wonderful images, Greg, they are just wonderful! Although I enjoy all of them but a few stand out for me. The momma bear and two of her cubs, #10, is one of them. And then two quite common birds, the heron with snowy mountains in the background and sandhill crane are the others. Plus, #13 and 18 of the cub alone on the tree are just great. YGMV!

I'd like to comment on each one Greg, so I made it simple, I just voted for the thread

Your bear images are over the top outstanding! Cub shots are adorable, love the pair standing and jarring at each other! By the way with all the fantastic fur images you also pulled off a few excellent feather shots, nice lengthy enjoyable post, I could easily look at many more of them

Stunning series… TFS… I have not been to Yellowstone yet (in any season). So I am just curious, say if we plan a visit in March next year (to align with the spring break for the kids), would we need a guide to find all this wildlife? Or do we just need to be lucky, or what? Would certainly appreciate any advice/suggestions…

Bruce - Thanks I appreciate the kind words. I had no idea the rate for a motel room was that high, that's brutal. I always camp so that helps keep the costs down, but this year I may not go due the rising cost of fuel.

Cambyses - Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, I truly appreciate it.

I have attached some information for you from the YNP website. As you can see in March most of the roads are still closed to vehicle traffic.

Here is a link - https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/parkroads.htm

Most park roads are closed to regular vehicles from early November to late-April when the park switches to oversnow travel (snowmobiles and snowcoaches).

The only road open year-round to automobiles is from the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, through the park to Cooke City, Montana (via Tower Junction).

As far as using a guide that's totally up to you. I have never used a guide. Wildlife can be anywhere so just alway be ready. You can politely ask others what and where they are seeing wildlife. That will help narrow down your locations/areas to search. People tend to be very helpful. And also be prepared to drive as the park is massive.

Greg
