I just had a great outing to Ontario's Presqu'ile Provincial Park, which is a staging area for thousands of ducks, swans and geese. My main target was long-tailed ducks and I managed to get close-up shots of both adult and immature males and females; as usual, if you wait long enough, they'll come to you. Overall, I counted 19 waterfowl species and I probably missed a few more.
Two record holders in this set: of all ducks, long-tailed spend the most time underwater and red-breasted mergansers have the speed record.
Most of the shots below - and all in-flight shots - were taken at 1200mm.
Oh my, what an outstanding set of photographs. Beautiful birds in wonderful poses taken by a skilled photographer. Of all the photographs, I really like #6 even though it doesn't show all of the bird. It's just such a great moment you've captured.
There is so much to love about this set !!! What wonderful work. I tried to pick favorites, but oh my, far too hard. So, I'll just vote for the set . Beautiful work.
Your images are not just technically excellent but they are esthetically great at the same time, Vladimir! And the colors are gorgeous. I enjoy all of them...

Thank you very much, Tom! At 20fps, there is only one frame when just the tail feathers are prominent above the water level. I kept shooting these splashes and was very happy when I finally got the image I had in mind. Really glad you liked it!

Superb set Vladimir though I hope the first was not a pin ball game. I love 8!

Thank you, Morris! Are you talking about the first duck being tilted? Pretty strong waves that day - I even got splashed when I got a little too close to the shore.

Yes and I'm impressed Vladimir, you understood that. Getting wet on a cold day like that is no fun. I've had it happen as well. Brrrrrrrrr
