When shooting 907x in 1:1 crop, the vertical angle of view with 21mm is 75 degrees. So, it should be a bit wider than 21mm.

So, yeah, the camera look would be closer with the 38mm lens , but the shooting experience would be closer with the 21mm.

It's pretty with the 38.... And better functionality. But you're correct on FoV. Hopefully we get some wider XCDV options.

Looks much better than the 45p, or any of the prior generation of lenses. I'm glad they got away from the "fancy Batis" aesthetic and got back to the industrial design roots.

I also prefer the look and functionality of the new lenses. Alas, my Hasselblad dealer will have them only in October and November.

How does BBF work with the new lenses? To use BBF, one must switch to MF. Can you use the AF-D button with the clutch switched to MF position? Can you switch to MF without engaging the clutch?

Good question. Hadn't tested that at all. So I did.

You have to set the camera to MF via the rear screen or a custom button to enable BBF with the new glass.. Same as the original XCD lenses. You can't use BBF with the clutch. The camera just brings up an error saying function not available if you press the AF-D button with the clutch enabled.

MF works perfectly fine without the clutch enabled if the camera is set to MF. Basically the same as the XCD glass. And you do get the new MF assist circle. All you lose doing it this way are the hard stops. They only happen with the clutch enabled.

How far is the rotation from infinity to MFD when the clutch is engaged and you get the hard stops?

That is great, thank you for the answer. I got my X2D, but the lenses will arrive much later.
The camera is great, it feels a bit heavier. I am missing the X1D's option to have LV in EVF only while using LCD for menu and image review.
IBIS is impressive and IQ seems great.

About 120 degrees.

Congrats!!

I look forward to your impressions.

Update all your lenses, if you haven't (I hadn't). It does make a difference.

Lots of things missing I think. I want the crop options that are currently missing as I think this could have the resolution to be an XPan style camera. And I also shoot 1:1 a bit.

We'll have to compile a list....

Have a look here. Clear statement from Chris from Hasselblad.
Tracking, continuous focus and focus bracketing is coming in 2023.

Thank you for the hint about updating. I read your previous post and updated all lenses before the X2D arrived.

Focus Indicator is disabled when using third-party lenses or adapters. As a result, zoom is the only available MF assistance. That is unfortunate, as I find the new Focus Indicator very helpful. However, MF with zoom seems easy with the new EVF.

I wish Auto-ISO had a slower focal length shutter-speed setting. Currently, focal-length/2 is the slowest, but the IBIS is good enough to shoot much slower. The alternative is to use manual mode or set the Auto-ISO shutter explicitly (e.g., 1/10sec)

Yes, that is what I referred to (YT from Sonder Creative).

Hopefully I get my 90V early next week, if the information from the supplier regarding stock arrival was accurate. Only then can I say for sure that the 90 is close to the 38 & 55 in AF speed.

Regarding the 80 (and most XCD lenses, for that matter). It does get a bump in AF speed. A small one. But remember that, except for the 120mm, it was probably the slowest focuser of the XCD line up.

What has improved, is AF confidence. Dramatically. Any X1D owner knows that the AF racks back and forward EVERY TIME you touch the AF

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope you get better soon. Please take care.

It's good to hear that the 80 no longer racks back and forth. I really hated that it happened every time I focused. I look forward to your impressions of the 90V, but there's a really good deal locally for on an used 80. The 90V would make a nice 2 lens kit with my 38V but the 80 is tempting because the focal length is versatile enough to be used solo. Wish it were a 80V

Hasselblad recommends two CFExpress type B memory cards:
1. Sony CEB-G Series CFexpress Type B memory card (128GB)
2. SanDisk Extreme Pro CFexpress Type B memory card (128GB, 256GB, 512GB)

However, Sony's Tough cards are thicker and hard to insert and remove. SanDisk works better.

My 512 SanDisk CFII card arrived after doing a short world tour on its way to me from B&H. Ordered before the camera but arrived a week after, which is unusual. B&H is usually 4-5 days to Oz.

Haven't used it yet as it arrived as I was, at last, leaving the house. I am getting an XH2 and I still have my S1R and Z7 so I can at least use it across a few cameras. Price is obscene. And Oz prices are 20-30% higher than the B&H price. These things make printer ink look cheap.

Reported from a Hasselblad dealer training:
- Hasselblad has no plans to add video to X2D - ever.
- Focus peaking will likely arrive in the next firmware update.

I am relieved about no video. Hasselblad should just focus on still photography and coming up with smaller/ lighter no compromise XCD lenses

Not surprised about the video, or lack thereof. Reports were that the camera had real significant overheating issues during testing and looking at the camera I'm not surprised. The mics and speaker are there but the body has essentially mo ventilation and the body acts as a heat sync.

And since an iPhone basically has better video specs than this sensor, why bother? Better to have the available functions that work rather than special stuff that is flakey.

What would be cool though, if the internal video hardware (mics and speakers) are there but not active, would be functions like a voice memo to add notes to shots. Or better, voice control. "Hey Hassleblad, change the ISO to 64". Yes, I know the OS won't do it.......
