The portrait of the black wolf with silver fur encircling the face is super striking... You are fortunate to have the wolf center "near" you, as I've seen many striking photos from that location. I also like the photo of the pine marten (not fisher ?)... both are winners and seeing these make me even more excited about my recent purchase....

Thank you! I have 2 different places I could go for wolf and mammals picture. I can only do photography on my days off and my 4 last outings in nature were not good. Not one single pictures. We got one foot 5 days ago and I wented to a sure value to take some pictures before it melted all away( rain and warm weather next few days)
I did a search for the English name of the "fisher", in French it is called Pékan. I did correct the name to pine marten. Thank you! The one with the black face is a silver fox .

Thanks for the added information Rick... I knew it was either a marten or fisher... The fishers in my area are darker than the martens and they are bigger. While they eat other things, fishers are a bit of a squirrel specialist. In terms of size, they slot between pine martens and wolverines.

Nice shot! That is one tricky setup to shoot through. Was there last night but all I had was an 85
Hey Mike, small world! always good to see a facebook friend and local birder on here!
My buddy I went with had an R5 + EF 500mm F4 and accidentally had it in 1.6 crop mode. He was furious and couldn't figure out how I could get any shots at all haha.
We didn't figure it out until we were well at home

some pics from my first trip to the Sax Zim Bog
this was the day after dropping my Z9 + 400mm from 6' shoulder height onto cement... lens seems fine, but if any pixel peepers can see anything out of the ordinary - please let me know!
I recognize the wolf shot is pretty bad, but it was 200 yards away shooting through the heat of my car's engine. more of a proof of life and documenting a lifelong memory

I have had the 400 f2.8S since early December. I gave up a lot to get this lens, but am very happy with what I am seeing from it.
