p.21 #5 · Official Nikon 400/2.8S image thread + some discussions
Went to Audubon Swamp this morning near Charleston, SC which is about 80 miles from our house. Was not sure what focal length to use so brought the 400/2.8TC which gives me from 400-800. It worked! Mostly Greaty Blue Herons nesting, a little early in the year for the rest of the birds. Was a real nice time!

Great images, the first one is a nice departure from all the images of birds catching and/or swallowing fish half their own size
Striking how the white balance is different between the two images, assuming that you were in the same place and switched the TC on. The yellow in its feet going from orange/brownish to distinctly yellow/greenish. Perhaps it is not even the white balance alone so much, but also the difference in the way the lens captures the light with and without TC in this image due to the change in focal length.
