The exifs are included in the photos! So I think it is more or less impossible to tell which one is which. I shot thousands of images with the new Z 400/2.8 and I never had the feeling my old FL had delivered more pleasing captures. I don't think too much about my gear. I think more about how to create my next image. In my option gear matters much less than most people think. Great captures are all about light and composition.
Even it is maybe the wrong place some captures taken with a D5, D3s and different lenses.

A few burrowing owl photos from my lunch break today…… he wasn’t very active but I still liked the shots with the white flowers in the foreground and background.
Nice set.
I am happy to see these, because I was worried about these guys after the hurricane. This is a good sign. I also saw that Harriet & M15 wasted no time rebuilding their nest, which is great to see as well.
I hope you & your family fared well in and after the storm.

Thanks!!!! From what I have seen the owls did fine. I’m sure some didn’t fare well but most did. And yes the eagles are doing great!!!! I stopped by to see them right after I got the 800mmpf to try it out and they were very active rebuilding the nest.
We did fine in the hurricane. Lost 13 or so pine trees and had lots to clean up. My parents house flooded, totaled all 3 cars and my dad’s motorcycle. Everything can be replaced though and everyone is fine. Thanks for asking!!!! If you ever make it down this way give me a shout. Always looking for people to shoot with.

This may be exactly why I feel the way that I do, I have countless hours spent with the FL and the S is new to me. So I haven't been handed as many perfect situations. Looks like I just need to get out more

Does anyone use this lens solely handheld? Basically as a walkabout lens?
I used it handheld quite often. For me, 3kg not including the body is just about the maximum
I can handhold comfortably. When I was in Botswana, I used it without beanbag, tripod or monopod
The entire trip.

Couple shots from yesterday morning. Black-bellied whistling ducks. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resize images in Lightroom to get maximum quality but still fit the size requirements to post on here. I have no interest in paying for a Flickr account. I saved these by adjusting the image quality when exporting to get the required size. Just not sure that is the best option.

Awesome images, love the detail and bokeh!!
I post all my images on Facebook as 2200 pixels on the long size for horizontal images, 1500 on the long side for vertical images. I use photoshop and save as Quality 11. Not sure this is the best way but it seems to work for me here as well.

Thanks for the info!!! I will try that. Looking at the ones I posted though I don’t think they look bad so I may just stick to that.

Mottled duck with a spider web coming off the drip down to the water. Huge crop on this one. This lens really is special. The more I use it the more I love it!!!

Awesome shot and couldn't agree more! I think at the moment anyway it's the best lens on the market from any brand but just my biased opinion!!

I agree that it is the best on the market right now. So many different options with the TCs and 2.8 is just insane.

I'd scale down the image pixel size as necessary, and use 95 % or more JPEG image quality. For pixel peeping, it's probably best to add a 100 % crop as a second image. The images in your post (when looking at the full image, not the image presented as part of the thread) indeed show a number of the effects that are resulting from lower JPEG quality processing (especially oversharpening, noise reduction, and associated artefacts).

Well that is interesting. These are not crops. JPEG run through topaz and then posted. Zero sharpening. I don’t see the artifacts. I’ll have to look at them again. Are they in all the photos I posted or just the whistling duck photos? I normally post with Flickr but my account is full so I did the upload and sell. Maybe that is where I am having issues.
Anyone else see said artifacts? I’m just not seeing them. Maybe I am blind. Lol.
