Just remember, this eye cup will not rotate as there are flutes of plastic inside the base plate that stick into the rubber part that stop it from turning. When using it in vertical mode, you just have to put up with it not sitting perfectl on your eye. However, it is still more comfortable and better than the original Nikon version.
Just got my eye cup in last night and have not had time to mess with it yet. Any issues with putting the old eyepiece back on if one does not prefer the eyecup? Also, how fragile is that little clip? I gather that you just take the rubber piece off the back of the camera and then there should be a clip? I just don’t wanna mess anything up. Lol

I am now making 4 more of them for my friends who have a Z9.
So I took the rubber ring off the back of the camera but could not find the clip. I did not want to go pulling and yanking on things and break anything. Any chance of a video showing how to do it? Or maybe a description of where the clip is and how to get it off? Sorry to be a pain but I have never replaced the eyepiece on a camera before and would hate to break anything on my new toy. Lol.
Here is a step by step "guide". I hope it is clear enough.
1) Remove the DK-33 from the camera by pressing the button to the left and below of the EVF and rotate it anti-clockwise off.
2) Peel away the rubber of the DK-33 as per below:
Rubber off the plastic holder
3) From the side that has the Nikon logo, you need to use your thumbnail or similar to split the thin plastic ring away from the holder as shown below. It can be a little difficult to do but it will come off reasonably easily. You should be able to see where the clip and base are different in the photo:
4) Turn back over and mount the cup that was purchased from the Ebay seller. It will go on reasonably easily also. Just make sure you line up the longest part of the new rubber cup horizontally to how the DK-33 holder sits on the camera. The new cup will not rotate on the holder and if you try to do so you may break the holder.
5) replace new set up on the camera by rotating the cup clockwise around the EVF
Lance you are the man. No way I would have figured that out. Haha. Got it all done and on the camera. I have never used an eyecup before so it feels a little weird right now. I’m sure I will get use to it. Thanks again for all the help!!!!

Great step by step tutorial on how to modify the Z9 eyecup. Just to add to the conversation, Over at DPreview a member noted Hoodman is working on one, it just is not available yet. No time frame given, but I am under the assumption as more Z9's get delivered to people, they will ramp up their efforts to get a replacement out. They even gave a shout out to Lance B and his tutorial. Here is the link:

I am pretty sure the DK-19 Eye cup will also fit on a Z9. I used it on my D850 but haven't got around to seeing if it will fit the Z9 but I don't see why not.

Unfortunately, no, the DK-19 is not compatible with the Z9. Nikon changed the eyecup mount from their previous screw-in style, to a bayonet mount on the Z9.

Ah shoot, that's too bad. Thanks for the confirmation.

It’s interesting that Nikon kept the legacy 10-pin remote connector for backward compatibility, but not the eyepiece attachment. Lance did a nice job earlier in this thread showing how to mod a better eyecup for the Z9 and that has helped me greatly to be able to view the EVF in bright light.
The included eyepiece on the Z9 has been problematic for me, as the rubber was constantly coming off the ring, and it is so shallow it offered no shading from peripheral light (the DK-19 was much better). I look forward to seeing what Hoodman comes up with.
