Stumbled upon the same cormorant I snapped a portrait of last week, easily identified by the unique plumage...but this time with friends. Also...hard to believe, but these are the first shots I've ever shot on any Nikon in DX mode vs cropping in post. I should do that more often, AF tends to work better

Admittedly I would have loved to use a Z8 or Z9 this past weekend as I'm sure I would have more in focus shots, but this was just casual shooting for family and an excuse to remind myself how good / bad the Z6ii cAF is with eye-AF. For this purpose, I'm more than happy. There were misses, but it was a minority of situations (this is kids ball and f4.5 - 5.6 of course). If I started doing this for paid work, I'd be putting my order in soon I think. With that said, I always enjoy the versatility of the 100-400mm, which all of these were shot with.
