Oh please I poke my head in the A1 vs Z9 thread in the Sony board from time to time. I'm not the only one turning anything into a brand thing.
Agree on that for sure. My point was that Duncan posting the images was not inappropriate in the way, and with the intent that he did it.

I don't mind that he did it, just wish he labeled what he used on that one. It's like when phone manufacturers market their phone cameras with images taken from DSLR's. 1bwana1 wrote:

Yes, Duncan should have posted that it was from his a9 or a1 or whatever. He was being quite nefarious in hiding it for some reason. It doesn't take away how great the shots are but I would not do the same thing in a Canon or Sony forum without putting in that they were from a Nikon camera just to show where I was coming from. To be quite honest, I couldn't be bothered and I do not feel the requirement to feel superior about my gear, I just do not ever feel that insecure.

When he posted those beautiful images, I almost replied “It’s a trap!”.

As I say, they are great images but be up front and open rather than hide what the purpose of your post is. It makes it look like you do want to trap people which is very nefarious and smacks of insecurity.

So I posted some bif images taken with a 100-400 to further illustrate the posters point that a 100-400 zoom is a great birding lens and you guys think it's a trap of some kind ?

Pardon me for being blunt, but if that eagle pic was shot with the new 100-400 I'd say it's back to the drawing board. Don't want to be rude but I've gotten better results with a D5200 and 70-300 AF-P.

Got any tips on how to get closer to eagles, pal? I'm all ears.

You really should take a break from social media.
I don't do social media.
Just post the camera and lens used. I always do.
We know nothing about the images posted, whether they were shot on a 100-400 or a 200-600 or a prime or whatever. All we got were some images and nothing else, no explanation as to what it was all about.

Yes actually I do, but that's not really relevant here. My apologies, that wasn't meant as an attack. It appears that all of you are in a trial phase / love affair with this new lens and I was just offering input from the sidelines. I owned the 80-400 G for a few years, crop or not, that IQ is not acceptable. If you'd rather I just say, great shot, well then okay. Great shot !

Really don’t care what you say, because as you said, you’re saying it from the sidelines. No need for backhanded comments about everyone being in the learning phase.
I’ve got a decade of experience with 100-400 lenses. I can safely say the Nikon is up there at the top of the heap, massive crop of a single shot or not.

FWIW, you totally misread my meaning. It helps to respond with accuracy. I never said "learning" phase, you did. Although, I'm a firm believer that there is a learning curve involved with every new piece of equipment, no matter the user experience. That would be the "trial" phase, what I said. I'll bow out now as you're obviously much too sensitive to engage in any meaningful dialogue.

What exactly do you find lacking in the image? The face and the feathers on the head seem tack sharp.
