I haven’t used the card much this year but used it for the 24GM and 35GM and gotten huge savings from it. Annoyed that I’d have to apply again to get the new card, but I’ll probably just wait until I there’s a big purchase it actually affects. Otherwise it’s just buying used gear from FM for me from now on

Yep. I'll wait until I "need" it. I was unhappy in the extreme with the hoop jumping needed for the Synchrony card. It was slow, it was excessively intrusive, the attempts to capture facial images, etc., were awkward on phone cam, etc.

What? All I did was give some basic info, answer a couple of questions and it was approved.

I purchase from B&H often. But, I am glad that I did not order my A1 a short time ago through them and apply for a Pay Boo card and have another hard inquiry on my Credit History. I would have been really pissed for still another Hard Inquiry when I purchased the A1. Glad I purchased the camera elsewhere that I can use for large future needs.

But you can buy from BH and not use the Synchronous card.

I wonder what happens to a rather large credit I have on my card.

And if you return an item after Christmas will they just give you a B&H gift card

Edit: I wrote them to see what they'll do. I'll let you know what they say.

"Hello Dennis,

Returns and refunds will still be processed up until April 3, 2022.

If your account has already been paid off, Synchrony will apply the credit to your account for approximately 60 days or 2 billing cycles. If the credit balance remains after this period, Synchrony will automatically mail a check for the remaining credit amount. You can call Synchrony customer service at time to request a check for the credit balance to be sent immediately. If your account has been closed, Synchrony will mail a check for the credit balance.

Thank you,

Your B&H Credit Card Team

The question is if applying for the new PayBoo card will show up as a hard inquiry on your credit history. If the answer is yes, I will just let my PayBoo expire and apply for it when I need to purchase something from BH in the future. No need to get a new card immediately. "Once approved" wording seems to imply that it will just be like applying for a brand-new CC.

It's been a wonderful year and a half on PayBoo. Easily Saved over $500 in taxes. 10.25% sales taxes in Chicago makes it a no brainer IMO.

I am sooooo glad I left Chicago. It hurt at first, as I lived there 44 years. But damn, the cost is insane. Sales taxes, property taxes, and state income taxes have massively risen since I left. Best financial decision I ever made was to leave Chicago and Illinois.

I haven't had a chance to review the new Payboo program for various differences in the program. I see the new card issuer is Comenity Capital Bank. I did a quick search on Yelp, and what popped up for them was lots of reviews, average of one star.

Man, those are some horrible Yelp reviews! Earlier this week, I opened my new Payboo account, and I made my first purchase at the time of opening the account. But when I tried to make another purchase the next day, it didn't allow me to use the card anymore. I called B&H and I was told that I have to wait until I receive the physical card before I can make additional purchases.

Anyway, given all these reviews, I hope B&H has done their due diligence when selecting this bank. After all, this is not a real credit card in the sense that it can only be used at B&H. So B&H's own reputation would definitely be on the line and would frankly be severely damaged, if Comenity Bank treats its B&H customers the same way as most Yelp reviewers seem to suggest! And it would be impossible for B&H to just distance itself from any of the bank practices when it comes to the Payboo card.

All that said, I am hoping that, despite the terrible Yelp reviews, all would be OK for the Payboo card, particularly if you always pay your balance in full.

Cambyses, It's only "just begun." There is a long history here on FM as to the previous purveyor of the PayBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO card.

Do NOT expect BH to intervene on ANYONE's behalf should the shite hit the fan. Check out the history of the "cards" predecessor "and weep."

Henry of BH, a stellar representative for BH and ombudsman on all things BH and absolutely SOLID in that role on our behalf, has apparently been assigned the role as the armor plated, defender in chief, first responder to all critiques of this 'card'. Pay the damn tax and screw Comenity. Use your Apple Card and 2% off immediately. NO fuss, muss or bother. That's 2% the sleeper in chief won't get.

Sorry. You misspelled that. It should be PayBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
:-)

I've said this before. The application/approval process is owned and operated 100% by the bank. We have no influence over the process or results. Much of it is kept private to protect the applicant's privacy.

Henry of BH, a stellar representative for BH and ombudsman on all things BH and absolutely SOLID in that role on our behalf,

Thank you.
