Wonderful set, Birdie. The first video is pretty cool. We get tens of thousands on the flyway here in Alberta/Saskatchewan, but generally I don't think photographers can get as close as you seem to be without them flying away (which does them a disservice when they are trying to feed/rest). Still, even being a bit further away, it is really enjoyable to seem a mass flock take off or land. Well done.
Thank you very much. The sounds of so many birds is amazing. In the video they were feeding. A hawk or eagle would fly over and send them flying. On a couple of occasions they flew right over me as the circled back to land. It was so incredible.

Much appreciated Karl. I would love to see your view of this marvelous place. I hope you get to go one year.
Really great set of images and I enjoyed the videos. I've not traveled there...not sure why, I'm not really that far, but such is life. Just gets in the way while we make other plans.
Wonderful series. I've never had a chance to get there, but I have the same question as Tollefsen, to you and any others who have been there multiple times: if I can only get there once, what is the best week of the year to be there?

My personal favorite time is Jan when the moon is full. Mid to late Dec around full moon is also nice. From what I have been told the birds generally start arriving late Oct and leave by mid Feb. If it is a mild winter up north, the numbers maybe smaller. Others may have different experiences and opinions.
We like to visit from about mid November to the end of January. The cranes and geese are usually around during that time. What ducks are around seem to be a bit more variable. Seeing other wildlife like Javelina, coyotes, bobcats, deer, elk, etc. mostly requires being at the right place at the right time.
Birdie, your masterfully captured and presented Bosque images make me want to go back there. However, it doesn't look like I will be able to this time around. But yours EMV!
Thank you so much
