I'd be buying Delkin Power to save a lot of $ and pretty much match Cobalt performance. AFAIK, the larger capacity Delkin Power cards have been updated to perform like the 128 does in this graph and not like the 256 which sucked.

I bought 2 of those Delkin 128gb power cards, they were not at the speed TheSSDReview stated. I have a new PC with a Samsung 1TB EVO 970 Plus that reads/writes at 3,500/3,300MB/S and a 3.1 and 3.2 gen type C ports (10GB/S) and with both the most I could write a 90GB folder to the cards was 460MB/S on the front header and the back header was 645MB/s. There wasn't even a burst speed at that number. My Sony G 64gb XQD cards burst at like 1.3gb and after 3 or 4 seconds level of at 465MB/s. So i sent the power cards back and got the ProGrade 325gb Cobalt card. Also, I bought the Delkin Type B card reader as well.

Not sure how TheSSDReview got the stores they got. Those cards were dated 7/21 and 9/21 so these were newly manufactured as well. If anyone else tries them out, I would maybe go Amazon for ease of returns as they also have already set the return dates to Jan 31st (Holiday shopping return dates) as the earliest we will get the Camera 2nd to 3rd week in December.

The Prograde card reader came yesterday and the card will come today and will test the Cobalt card today just to make sure it's not my system, but I know for certain it is not my system.

Good to know. Let us know how the Cobalt compare when you test them with your system. If Amazon has a Xmas return policy now I will order some Power cards and test in the Z9. Power cards are still readily available from Amazon Canada. I'll check if Cobalt are also. I've hesitated buying any cards as I don't know when the Z9 will show up and normally returns are 30days which is still short of even the best B&H shipping date of Dec 15th. (I don't put much faith in earlier dates being thrown around on the internet as B&H is always correct with shipping dates).

With all the testing that went on when the R5 came out and people needed fast cards for 8K and 4K120, the Delkin Power were one of the better ones that had no limits on 8K. However, I believe Canon only required 400MB/s sustained to get 8K without hiccups.

Yeah I'm curious if the power cards work in the camera at that speed? But i should still get that speed writing to the card from my PC without bottlenecks or choke points. I might try them again once i get the camera. I'm 1st on the list at the store i pre-ordered from so I'm going to get it by the 16th or 17th

Amazon Christmas policy in the States is currently on... has been since October 1. I would suspect it would be the same for Canada.

Not sure if you saw this testing on card readers and cards. May be interesting? Of note they found that write speeds were way lower than what it says on the cards when tested at a computer. The average staying around the 700MB/s mark.

Readers and card read/write speeds: https://camnostic.com/cfexpress-card-reader-comparison/
Card tests done mostly with the R5: https://camnostic.com/cfexpress-cards-comparison/

Thanks. I haven't seen those yet. I wonder if what they are talking about is the Max write speed of the 1400-1700MB/s and the minimum sustained write speeds at ~400MB/s compared to the min Sustained speeds of 1200-1400MB/s?

I will need to read through it and see all the details. I think I will keep the Cobalt card for my main card as of now and maybe try 1 of the power cards in camera for my second card. If that works out for the speed, I will switch and use the 325GB Cobalt card for the second slot for 4k Video and use the 128gb Power cards for stills.

Interesting test on the ProGrade 325GB Cobalt.

Writing to the card from my M.2 drive with a 90GB folder was 200MB/s but from the card to the M.2 Drive was 1.8GB's burst for about 20-25% of the data and then the sustained write was 1.365GB/s on my FSB USB-C port. The rear port, which is faster was 1.9GB/s burst for about the same 20-25% of the data and 1.412GB/s sustained.

So writing to the card is crap (reader limitation?) but from the card is blazing fast. Oh and the card gets pretty warm but not hot.

B&H has the Delkin Black 128GB card in stock as of today as well. Though the 3 days after the Z9 was announced they were $199 and the Monday after the announcement they bumped them to $229 the bastards. They will probably go up again.

I also think that Delkin Black 512 card was $650 or $669 and they jumped that price as well.

Even the Sony 128 GB Tough CFExpr B went from $199 (I bought 2 in July) to $219 now.

At this time, on B&H, only the 64 GB and 512 GB show as "In Stock".

Delkin Black CFexpress Type B Read/Write Speeds in MB/S
- 64 GB = 1685 / 1680
- 128 GB = 1760 / 1710
- 256 GB = 1645 / 1400
- 512 GB = 1645 / 1405

Ricci's buffer test video

shows him getting 81 Lossless Compressed RAW on the z9 using 512 GB Delkin Black.
Wonder if that number will be higher with the 128GB.

More info on Z9 AF from 13.00 onwards. There's one portion where the AF box size seems to change depending on the subject type/ sub type..like a cockpit of an airplane..

Also from 19.00 Chris talks about the real live EVF and shows an amazing example of airplanes

Just got a cfexpress Delkin Power 2TB which was on sale from B&H at $550. Shots before slowdown on a Z9 20fps lossless uncompressed was 66, high efficiency star was 194.

Thanks for the input. Just wondering, why did not decide Delkin Power vs Delkin Black?

How has the Delkin 2TB been for video on Z9? Any limitations with 8k, 4k120?

I've only tested video, did a 32 minute 8K 24p H.265 10 bit, output was fine, card was not warm, shot at about 70 degrees F, it's tough to find a hot environment in Sedona in the winter to better test it.
