I do think that the Z6II/Z7II will gat at least a piece of it when they get Real Time Tracking. At least I hope so for all my friends who shoot with them.

Nobody is expecting miracle, but there is some things that could be implemented to Z6/7II, I would think.
I'm just watching video about 100-400s, so Ricci is mentioning some new IBIS/VR sync mode on Z9, so why not on Z6/7II as well.

I just can't agree about the praise on Polin. He often says things that are incorrect about products that he has not used. It's weird how you guys claim that he is accurate. Probably you also haven't used those products and just assume that what he says about them is correct.

I grew up in a culture where modesty is a virtue. Polin can't go through a video without talking about his muscles, sometimes showing himself shirtless, about how sending a camera to him or not somehow decides the fate of the camera in the market, blowing spit and air and sniff testing, talking about his plugins etc. never spending a long time on topic. I find it hard to watch without feeling I'm going to throw up.

Granger by contrast stays on topic regarding the products but all of his subjects are barely clothed young women borderline something you can be seen watching without embarrassment. I couldn't send a link to a Granger video to anyone really without feeling that it's borderline inappropriate. It's a shame as he does pretty demanding AF testing and seems to explain the results as they came out. If he decided to photograph people with clothes on, it would be easier to recommend his reviews.

I realize that there are people who like these but I prefer serious reviews where they stick to the topic. It is better if the cameras were not provided by the manufacturer and they had to purchase them themselves. Complaining about a manufacturer not sending a free review unit to someone isn't really appropriate IMO.

Further, one issue is that these photographers have a very narrow range of subjects that they normally shoot and often insist on shooting in a certain way rather than being willing to learn how to work with the product. Yet thousands and thousands of photographers get great results even with the cameras that these "influencers" trash because they're willing to learn the equipment rather than assume it was designed specifically for their subjects and shooting style.

I agree that there is a lot of fluff in Jared's videos that can turn people off. But in his review videos he goes fairly in depth into the areas I care about the most (like AF) and spends time reviewing the images from the shoots and discussing how it went. So he sells presets....click past it and forget about it. Everyone is trying to sell you something. No free lunch out there.
There may be videos he talks about gear he hasn't used. I'm not sure as I mostly only watch the Real-world review videos and preview videos like today's one. For the reviews he has done on the gear that I've owned like Z7, A9, A1, R5 etc I haven't come across any blatant lies or misrepresentations.

I also agree that people who buy the camera on their own and don't rely on Nikon provided may be less influenced. But I'd caution one to look for the strong confirmation bias in those reviews after they've just spent $5,500 on a new camera AND have likely never touched the competitors' cameras.

For someone that just wants to know about Nikon and how Nikon compares to Nikon then someone like Brad Hill will eventually provide us with a detailed review. But that review won't help those wanting to compare to other brands.

Now we will get to the good reviews in the new year when someone like Steve Perry has one, bought with his own money, used for a month or more and compared to the other flagships he already owns and knows in detail. But there aren't too many other reviewers like that out there to rely on.

One thing I saw from JP's video in relation to the one you just posted is that he says the overlay for AF seems to be off from where the AF actually is. He talks about it with the skater where it didn't appear the shots were going to be focus but every single one of them is.

Obviously your video is a much more erratically moving subject, but it's worth noting it appears the AF overlay may not be the best indicator of an in focus shot or not.

This was actually a pretty good review. I'm not a Jared fan and have dabbled in name calling with him because there have been times where he reviewed stuff that didn't mesh will with his shooting process and get used to things, but when he's actually just shooting and discussing his criticisms and not brand bashing he's mostly pretty good.

looks good on paper, doesn't match the A1 but it is priced accordingly and much more compelling than Canon's 20 mega pixel R3 for sure. I also have a feeling that Nikon's AF is more solid and closer to Sony's performance than Canon's R series that still lacking in consistency when it comes to certain challenging subjects. good day for Nikon.

That is why there are so many different reviewers to pick from. Style preferences. Same reason there are so many flavors of ice cream and brands of beers.

The one thing you can be sure of, Nikon doesn't feel the same way as you do. Actions speak louder than words in cases such as this.

That firmware is like straight beta. I'm pretty sure they can iron it out a bit before it's released and further polish it afterwards. FW was probably like some .69 stupidity.

FW must be pretty close to 1.0 currently. Mostly bug fixes going forward. Nikon was already sending out cameras with firmware labeled 0.80 about two months ago.

I'm curious how you know that, but that's fine enough. It's definitely leaps beyond the second gen cameras whatever number it was though. If that's all processor driven then you can't command V that into a firmware update to the second gens.

I wouldn't be surprised at that. Even with my Z50 I find that the AF looks like it won't be good due to the overlays or bouncing red squares in Auto but then the final image is tack sharp where I hope for.

With this release - we can probably say that Nikon DSLR reached its end of the road. I might be wrong but I don't see them releasing a D850 successor.

The moment Canon didn't announce a 5DmkV we all knew this was inevitable.

I don’t know Jered and I’ve only watched one maybe two of his videos before. I purposely don’t watch many gear reviews. There were a couple comments that he made that made this video sound legit in addition to the tests and samples that he showed. He stated that although Nikon provided him with the gear, he expressly made the point that he is no longer a Nikon shooter and that Nikon knows that he is no longer a Nikon shooter and that he left Nikon because Nikon up till now could not deliver on what he need for his professional assignments in terms of AF. I believe he shoots sports. Near the end of his video he said that although he was definitely impressed with this camera and lenses he has no intention of switching back but he felt that this gear would without a doubt deliver to the standards of what Sony is delivering in terms of AF.

I’ve never shot with an A1 but those AF samples that he was showing were incredibly impressive!
