I'm definitely ok with the integrated grip. Should balance the 50 1.2S and 70-200 2.8S better. For anyone that doesn't like the integrated grip, I'm sure there will be another body without the integrated grip that slips in between the Z6/Z7 and Z9 that has some of the Z9 features at some point.
I'm still on the first gen Z6 and didn't bother with that grip since it lacked shutter controls in portrait orientation, have been waiting on the Z9 to upgrade the body.
Yeah and about .8lbs more then the D500 and 500PF so the difference is pretty negligible. It sits right in the middle of the D500 and D850 with the 500PF

yeah it is. I was taking the weight of the D500 without cards and battery as well but the EN-EL18 is heavier then the EL15 but should still be a tad less then a full pound heavier. All rumors anyway so we wait and see hopefully Thursday
The weight that you are listing for the Z9 is without batteries, and is around what I had hoped it would be with batteries, which is not entirely impossible given the construction of mirrorless bodies, and what is in them.
Anyhow, with the 500PF you have a kg at least to spend before the weight get's anywhere near bothersome. That is a totally different story with a f4 lens.
The Z9 is totally above my head in all honesty: the weight will comprise of hardware to enable lengthy 8k video footage and other high end stuff that I totally don't need. Most of all, all of that that sensor real estate that I will be cropping away
It should be possible to make a nice gripped aps-c sports/wildlife body at 800gr including batteries. If I were to buy a Z9, I would buy it for lack of a better, more suiting birding/wildlife option. I hope such an option comes eventually. Until then, it's the D500 for me and I might even switch to the Oly 150-400mm if not. I like that mirrorless has brought full frame to the masses, but they have overdone it. I have a Sony A7RIV, and love it for landscapes, but for birding/wildlife, I infinitely prefer crop. So for me this week is about getting the Z9 out of my head completely I guess, and look ahead.

Adding half a kilogram to the D500+Sigma 500mm, effectively pushes it beyond handheld shooting, which I do exclusively, certainly when the 1.4TC is on.

This only exacerbates the lack of a 600 f/5.6 PF and heck I wouldn't mind seeing an 800 f/8. I have high hopes that one day we will see a 500 f/4 with same impressive weight savings as Sony and Canon did with the 400 and 600's. A sub 2.5kg 500 f/4 is easily achievable, but no one seems to be in any rush to release one. Heck Sony and Nikon don't even have the workhorse 300 f/2.8 on any roadmap which is a bad oversight.
Any way I will be just using the 500 PF an FTZII adapter for a while and see what the 200-600 offers eventually.
