Yeah, I try to avoid attention with my Leicas. I removed the black leatherette on my M3 and replaced it with olive green, as everyone knows Leica never made a green camera so it must be something cheap and worthless.

I did some something similar by using a green half case (with battery/SD access)

I've never posted the final result from removing the white paint from my SL2's LEICA letters.
Here it is with the new Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 Heliar classic.
Probably just me, but I find the red dot on the SL cameras extremely ugly. What were they thinking with the placement? Looks completely random to me as if the designer noticed last minute "shit I need to place a red dot somewhere so that we can sell a special edition without one later"..

It's not an easy job because it requires time and patience to do it right. However, it's not a difficult one.
My main tip is to use "pure" acetone and apply to the letters several times until the white paint just comes off using a toothpick.
There is no black paint loss or any marks on the body after this operation. It looks just like the SL2-S.
The red dot does not bother me as much. (same for the M9 and M10-R I also own).

Wow never knew they thread existed! Honored! Got an SL again, but decided that the white lettering actually looked ok, its the red dot that is the eye catcher for me.

I would not have done it without your tips! Thank you.

So doing it on my SL3 would make me nervous plus the top plate is not the same as the SL2. The occasional use of black electrical tape is at least reversible.
