p.4 #1 · Leica SL and SL2 (LEICA white paint removal)
More rubbing neccessary with alcohol thus polishing / altering the black paint mexhanically?
Acetone most likely makes the white paint softer than alcohol, thus requiring less mechanical force for removal.
Putting acetone specifically on the white paint with a toothpick (like an eyedropper) and then wait some time for the acetone to do its work before starting the mechanical part of removal seems sensible to me. Try not to get too mich or any acetone on the black parts.

Anyone who has successfully rubbed off the white paint off the SL2, did you try to rub off the white SL2 on the hot shoe as well? Advisable? I intend to attempt this by the end of this month along with the red dot replacement and any prior experience or advise is much appreciated. Thanks.

So doing it on my SL3 would make me nervous plus the top plate is not the same as the SL2. The occasional use of black electrical tape is at least reversible.
If you only do it occasionally that's fine I guess, but in my opinion it looks so awful when people cover the logos of their Leicas with tape, and then remove the tape at some point - the paint around the tape will have worn, but remained pristine under the tape.. such a weird look!
