My main camera is a D850. I get how the shooting memory and extended memory banks work. I have the movie button setup to switch between shooting memories A, B, C, and D. Is there any way to tie extended memories to shooting memories. A with A, B with B, or C with D and so on?

I have a monopod ordered that should be here next week. I don't think my old guns are up to schlepping this rig around for very long. I'm not sure what camera I'll use with it. Right now I'm using my D850 but that could change in the future.

Hi
You made a good choice (imo)
Before my Z8, the gripped D850 was my goto for several years and the 200-500 was my long lens for most of a decade. The 2-5 is very sharp, but I should say that my long lenses are stopped down to f8 (2-5, 500PF, 80-400AFS.)
Weight of the long lenses has become a problem with me too. My 2-5 is just too heavy nowadays. But it has a closer MFD than any prime the same length. I love using it on a tripod next to my wildflower garden. I just sit in the shade of the house’s gable end, waiting for a Monarch to flutter into the fully-illuminated garden.
With my handheld 2-5 I have captured many exciting Common loons taking to flight. I have no difficulty handholding the 2-5 for short bursts, as in a loon taking to flight, straight at me!
But I am now making a choice between sticking with the 2-5 or the 180-600. The long throw of my 2-5 is a PITA. I am choosing the 180-600 because of its *short-throw internal zooming* ......... and it is slightly less weight too.
This YT video was taken with my D850 and 2-5; at Bosque del Apache several years back. These Sandhills are migrating and the frozen conditions only lasted 1 or 2 nights. If they are to survive nights, the Sandhills must roost here, away from the woods and Coyotes. . I have a few vid clips that show a Coyote running in the background brush, where there must be a path beaten down.
Later today, I hope to post a still image or two, taken with the 2-5. Thank you for looking
