And you have proof of this how? I think you're more over analyzing than thinking reasonably especially with statements where you have no proof of failures with either approach the companies take.
In the end the "proof" will really be in how long the product lasts for you. Really no matter which way you go you won't have an issue unless you abuse the item.

My my, how defensive and indignant we can be. I made no statements implying that RRS and Henjar QD sockets were bad or not up to the task. What I said was that stainless steel is much harder than anodized aluminum. That is a fact, not my opinion. So the only argument against using the steel is the possibility of a connection failure where they meet. I have enough experience and knowledge in machining to have complete confidence that the pressed connection will be the last failure in the system. Since I am not an engineer, you can attribute that point as my opinion.
So Kirk, Leofoto and RRS use steel inserts in their QD clamps and Henjar does not. Of the 4, only Kirk and Leofoto use steel sleeves in their plates. That does not mean that the RRS & Henjar plates are not good enough, only that they are not as strong as the Kirk and Leofoto plates. Does that matter in the real world? I don't know, but it make sense to me to go for the stronger connection as long as there is not an over-riding financial reason not to. As it turns out, there isn't. Sorry that this upsets you...
