The walk by the creek may not have been such a fantastic idea as there was a lot of wrangling the older kid and the dog, but I did get to take a few pictures.
Got mine. It's a damned nice lens - kind of ridiculous actually. First shot is straight OOC and was literally my first snap, WO. Essentially no CA and it's so sharp that there is moire showing up in the end of the weight bar (A7RIV).
Last samples - had the 35mm GM with me and on a whim took the same shot with both the 35mm and 50mm GMs. Both wide open - zoomed with my feet to account for FL difference. Obviously most of the difference was due to the FL but still a fun comparison. I'm holding on to both of these for a long time.
As luck would have it, all my family test subjects were gone when I got home from work and opened the lens. I think we all know how that goes. The only member of the family home tonight was NOT a cat.

Well, that price is before tax so maybe $2250—2400 depending on where you live, but yeah. At least you don't live in Sweden though, the price for the 35 GM is ~$200 more than the rest of the EU.

Delivery of my 35/1.4 GM is delayed for one week,but I will have to pay the equivalent od 2110 USD for it.

Pricing seems identical to Germany.All of my newest Sony G/GM lenses come from Germany, as local Sony centres often do not have them quickly enough in stock.

just checked now and I swear the German price is higher than it used to be. Ah well... we can suffer together

More like $2050-$2200.
Such a good lens the human subjects are all smiling, not so much the doggo. This one is worth the money, for those in its frame of users. Sony always claimed they wanted competition, all through those years of none.
They knew they would do a better job when it arrived. And so they have. The disinfo associated with the 'mount advantage' just spurred them on more. Wait and see the reception over the next 2-3 months.
There is actually a little of the better A lenses genes here as well. So it us well-differentiated from the main competition and produces more polished yet individualised images, with more heart in them. Not easy.
