I might be completely wrong, but the bokeh in the first pics looks somehow weird, the bottom parts seem to be cut. The shutter speed is very fast, did you maybe use first EFCS?

I did test mine, and it's centered enough for me. Truthfully, unless it's a really severe issue, it's really up to a personal tolerance. A mild issue wouldn't stop me from enjoying shooting with this lens.

All my cameras are set to use electronic first curtain shutter.Yet I see no weirdness,nor any kind of cut in the pic no 2.It was just a regular shor at f 1.2 with normal result in these circumstances.

Thank you. There were a few comments that caught my attention. Then there doesn't seem to be any real problem with decentering on this model.
But what stunned me the most was the comment that this lens had no character... Wow. I don't think I've given as many likes to pictures in any image thread as here! Love its bokeh and rendering.
Maybe just try a comparison of the same shot - similar to the first one in this series - with full mechanical shutter at such fast shutter speeds and aperture full open. I would be interested.

Not sure what’s the deal with all those „decentered“ Sony lenses in North America. But I bought pretty much every new GM lens the last couple years, and only one had a problem. A 14GM, that was defective, not decentered. The two 50/1.2 I’ve either bought or shot were both pretty much perfectly sharp even wide open at 1.2. Maybe all those lenses get an extra shake up on their transit to North America? Just kidding, but it seems quite striking to me to read about all those problems in American message boards, that never reflect my reality buying Sony GM. I buy only in local shops though, nothing online, maybe that really makes a difference.

Indeed. “Decentered” is probably >98% of the time a photographer who doesn’t know what they are doing. That is happening less these days with eye-AF being so good. It amazes me that I can buy 70 year old lenses that are always good performers yet so many people - it used to be almost exclusively wedding photographers - seemed only to purchase decentered modern lenses.
My 50GM is witheringly sharp across the frame, even wide open. Same with the 35, 135, and 100-400…all immaculately engineered lenses. The 24 GM is not sharp across the frame until about f/4, but it is not soft either…and one should not expect wide open perfection at 24mm.
The 50GM is probably my favorite lens ever, and I have owned a lot of lenses from nearly every brand there is.
