Plus, at (extremely) high shutter speed (anything higher than 1/1000sec.) the bokeh is rendered not as smooth as it would be at slow shutter speed, at least in theory. The mechanical shutter is NOT in the same plane but it is in the front of the electronic shutter (=sensor).

The truncated bokeh is from using EFCS at high shutter speeds. Full mechanical shutter and e-shutter won't show those issues (they have their own though).
I carry a CPL on my Voigtlander 40/1.2 all the time in case I forget to switch shutter modes it helps to lower shutter speed a bit to lessen the effect.

Just got this lens a week ago, of course it's been raining since I got it. But managed to get outside. I'm an old school Canon 50L shooter and loved the "look" when you could nail it just right.....accounting for focus shift etc...But shooting this new GM, especially with eye focus tracking is on another level...Just amazing.
Man, just splurged on a new 50 1.2 GM from B&H. EDU discount + PayBoo tax free makes it hurt a bit less. 🥹 Need it for a big shoot in December. Can't wait to use it!
Just got my 50GM - feels like it could be my perfect walk-around point-and-shoot at f1.2 lens. Excitement about how it performs at 1.2 helps me not notice it is heavier than 35GM, at least for now.
Examining photos in this thread makes me feel that out-of-focus rendering of 50GM is often busier than of 35GM?
As audience is not necessarily the same as CV50APO-L thread, I'm adding a few shots to show rendering at medium distance at different apertures.
I got some shots with both eCurtain and Silent Shutter off. Was in a hurry to catch the dying light so I grabbed 35APO-L instead of 50APO-L - so no comparison this time. Much less light so conditions are much easier for the lens. Converted to jpeg in Lightroom, no lens corrections.
