Watched the race on TV. The atmosphere looked fantastic.

I do have some suggestions for better car photos, but I don’t think you were necessarily concentrating on photographing the cars specifically. More on documenting the day. Especially given the lens you had. In that aspect, I think you were successful.
Thanks Robert. Any suggestion is welcome. I mostly used zone focusing to get past the wire fence. Sadly there was not enough room where I was for taking decent panning shots.

My main suggestion would be to drop down the shutter speed significantly. If you shoot at too high of a shutter speed, the cars start looking like they're parked on the tarmac. Exceptions being when the car is coming straight at you or driving directly away from you. Then you can get away with high shutter speeds.
