I have been eyeing 50GM for quite a while. I am just wondering how does it perform in close-up? I saw quite a bit of close-up photos here but are those heavily cropped?

Well, I broke down and got one of these last week. The sharpness is frankly astonishingly good...135 GM level. I was floored. Wide open is already crazy-sharp, but stopping down to f/2.8, it more than out-resolves a 42MP sensor.
The colors are balanced but more normal than the ZA (which were almost super saturated). Ergonomics, weight, etc are great...though I am surprised at how thin the glass section is, relative to the barrel diameter...I guess those fancy motors that are so fast are large.
Bokeh is nice, especially up close. I have not had much time to shoot multiple types of subjects.
Very satisfied customer so far. Anxious to shoot more with it.

I had a crazy love affair with The Hibiki a few years back when you could still find the 12 year. After that disappeared I went down quite the Japanese whiskey rabbit hole. This picture brought back memories!

As much as I want the Voigtlander 50 f/2 APO, the Sony is calling my name very loudly. I much prefer a 50mm over 35mm so have held off on the 35 GM, and maybe if the Voigt was f/1.4 or had much better max magnification I'd jump on it.
