Great series Geoff...
I really like the raccoons!... It is so rare to catch them exhibiting some natural behaviors. How early was your paddle? I've been trying to get sunrise drinkers on the river, and other than a few deer, I always seem to miss the local raccoons and coyotes.
Final question.. has the 400 GM become your kayak lens?... I think that this is the near combination of focal length and aperture for early morning shooters.

Thanks Bruce. I started my kayak about 10mins after sunrise. Found my first set of 3 racoons just 10mins later. In the water cleaning and trying to catch crabs. Found the one in the shade a couple hours later on the opposite side of the lagoon.
I do prefer the 400GM over the 600 in the kayak just for its shorter length and it is a little better balanced for handholding. I also have made good use of f/2.8 during the early mornings. Although this morning I took the 600 out instead. Just to mix things up.

Something different for me, tried to get a Milky Way shot when I was in New Hampshire for the week. This is over Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains.
