I have the Sigma 24/3.5 but I do not own the Tamron. I find the Sigma sharpness to be more than enough for my needs, shooting at 42MP, and I’m a bit of a pixel peeper. If the Tamron is sharper, that’s pretty impressive. The only fault I find in the Sigma is rather high vignetting, but that is not something that bothers me. The price of the Tamron makes it an obvious consideration and great value for many but I’m still happy with the Sigma because of the excellent handling, small size, and nice rendering.

Very different use cases, obviously, but landscape photographers who have reviewed the Sigma 85 have not been forgiving at all. Lloyd Chambers was particularly brutal in his assessment and every comprehensive review I've seen has addressed the extreme distortion in the 85 Art and what it means.
Due to the reviews I've read and their assessments, I would never trade my Loxia 85 for it for landscape purposes. I would like an AF 85 for people but I crossed the Art off my list...a used 85 GM or Batis 85 are more likely in my future.
The aperture ring on my Sigma 24/3.5 feels much nicer than that of my Sony 20/1.8 G. The aperture ring on the Sigma is reminiscent of Zeiss ZF and ZM, Voigtländer VM lenses. It has a real metal feel with small metallic clunks each time you turn it. The Sigma 24/3.5 feels more like an old school metal manual focus lens than any other AF lenses I’ve owned, and that includes, Nikon, Sony, Zeiss, Olympus, Panasonic, Tamron and two Sigma zooms. 😊😊😊
Indeed Zeiss ZF lenses were the first MF lenses I thought about to compare to the mechanical feel of the Sigma 24/3.5. 😊
I have the Voigtlander FE 21mm f3.5, which is great for sun stars from f4 onwards.
I’m looking at getting either the Samyang FE 24mm f1.8 or Sigma FE 24mm f2
Waiting on more reviews for the Sigma before pulling the trigger 😉

This test was done using a Leica SL2 + Sigma 24/3.5i instead of my A7R4 and I just found out that Lightroom "auto" corrects for distortion when using L-mount lenses. With Sony E-mount lenses, it only corrects for Lateral CA and that's why I thought distortion was close to zero. I just tested it again today and the Sigma 24/3.5 DG DN actually has mild pincushion distortion. (Similar level to the 45/2.8i pincushion)
