If I wasn't any wiser I think you guys are a bunch of girls deciding on which handbag to buy!!!!! . You really don’t need to take all your equipment with you when you go out. Have a game plan on what style or objects you want to photograph before you leave home. Example if you are shooting street you would take a wide angle and maybe a 300 f5.6 zoom (compact) you can also use this equipment for architecture and landscape. You should be able to fit all this into a backpack, plus accessories. Just a note about street photography, generally people don’t like having a big lenes pointed in their general way. People feel that their personal space is being invaded. Saying that, I will be taking my 200 f2.8 to the Mardi Gra, but this lenes does fit into my backpack you really need the 2.8 for the night shoots.
OK here's the thing , Richard if you get a good bag like a mini trekka buy the time you have enough gear you will have gotten pretty good at sorting and packing to make the most of the space.
2 nd I can't make it as I seem to have a paying gig
3 The Balloon fiesta is on in Canberra this Month I believe so that should be good.
Hey, come on, I even have two nice bags for my tripod, which adds up to 8 bags to my bag collection for photography. I even have a causal style shoulder bag which I have converted to a camera bag - added extra padding and so on. Yes, that's right, we need the style...
But Phatphoto is right about street photography, so I regard small prime lenses a good choice for street photo.
Yes, Maurie, please let us have the date for the balloon fiesta. thanks

Bags are better if they don't look like camera bags for me.. less of a target and less of a threat for people who don't like a big lens stuck at them.
agreed ... that's why I bought this Domke Bag the 803

fwiw I did the same, mainly for times I don't want to look like I have my gear with me.
I have the Lowepro Micro Trekker 200 and a nova aw, both about about the right size for me, but in time I may grab a stealth too.

Smelly, I think we should all have a classic camera for keeping and displaying at home...
